I agree. Unless the new center is a second scorer. However, we can not trust players such as Towns and Ayton. Besides, it would be tough to match their salaries.
I would not rule out something like Randle to HOU, HOU picks to POR, then Smith and Ayton to NYK with expiring contracts thrown in to make it work. We turn Randle into productive players in positions of need while HOU gets more talent so they could climb the rankings and POR rebuilds via the draft as they intend to.

Well Scott Perry was the GM when we got Brunson and Thibs. He looked much more competent as a GM under Leon versus when he was with Steve Mills.
