Re: The Terrence Shannon Thread
Last season Anderson took almost 300 floaters, more than anyone in MIN. In some sense Anderson has adapted to Gobert presence in the paint by shooting those long floaters, and he also found ways to score without 3pt shot, dribbling and athleticism. This is not he case for Shannon who has both slashing game, 3pt shooting and can earn FTs. However, having floater might greatly increase his chances to be effective next to Gobert.

I'm not going to say that developing a floater is unimportant for Shannon; but I do think it's less important for Shannon than it is for Dillingham, simply because of Shannon's ability to absorb and finish through contact.

Yeah. Dilly's floater does need to get batter.

His passing is similar to Naz, I mean it is not fancy, but quick and decisive. It is also one of the reasons why I think TSJ was kind of misinterpreted as ISO scorer, because I think he can be part of motion offense type of offense simply by playing fast, decisive and unselfish basketball

I agree. But I do worry he is too quick to drive and too willing to pass up open 3s. I think Finch is gonna drill into him that he must develop his catch and shoot game and get comfortable with distance shooting in the months before preseason.

Re: The Terrence Shannon Thread
I read in many offseason analysis that these main point about MIN offseason:
- lost Anderson, his defensive versatility and ballhandling
- added Dillingham, but he is raw
- added Ingles, but he is old
Usually no one writes about Monte Morris, but more interesting no one care about TSJ addition. I understand why Monte is not getting much attention, however, I TSJ is basically is in same tier as NBA players drafted 1-2 years ago, some names from SL league:
- Wendell Moore Jr.
- Ochai Agbaji
- Keyonte George
- Jordan Hawkins
- Jaime Jaquez Jr.
- Brandin Podziemski
- Cam Whitmore
- Marcus Sasser
- Ben Sheppard
- Nick Smith Jr.
- Julian Strawther
Which makes me believe that TSJ might be an impactful player, who has been kind of underrated because of "label" of "24yo rookie with limited potential due to age".

That's a lot of highlights for the limited time he played.

I'm fine with his propensity to drive. He is so good at it he should look to drive first pass or shoot 3s alternately. Of course he should do all 3, but driving should be his first priority IMO.

I think the Stars are his limit and nothing less.

Re: The Terrence Shannon Thread
Sometimes, I see a little but of Ant in him. Which is funny, since TJ is older than Ant.

Re: The Terrence Shannon Thread
I have been rewatching some MIN 2023-24 games and I realised that TSJ can learn from one MIN former player... His name is Jordan McLaughlin! I think McLaughlin has been kind of underrated finisher at rim and particularly in transition. It starts with famous UCLA cut, McLaughlin ran it with Rubio, with DLo, with Anderson.
His acrobatic finishes
How fast he runs in transition
And finally his dunks
Although McLaughlin was listed as backup PG, he often played defacto wing position next to Conley, Anderson, NAW. I am watching right now last game of regular season (Apr.14, 2023) against PHO and starting second quarter McLaughlin scored twice in transition simply by outrunning opponents.

Is TSJ what Michael Beasley was supposed to be?

I don't see it that way. He's bigger, stronger and more athletic. I don't think Beasley was ever supposed to be an attack the rim guy.
TJ is what they call him no S by the way.

Oh yeah. Sorry, when I see M Beasley my mind instantly thinks Malik Beasley. Michael Beasley was a player I had high expectations for that didn't live up to them. TJ will live up to my high expectations. SO yeah, maybe who Michael Beasley was supposed to be.

That’s hilarious because I also was thinking “(Michael) Beasley with a brain.”

Michael Beasley was 6' 10", had a full-arsenal of on-ball creation and incredible shot making. He played nothing like TSJ.

Beasley was taller, but both are/were looking to score every time they got the ball. I see some similarities more than just they both play basketball.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
