I agree the margins are important in this sport but it should be noted that these margin guys are only being discussed because the Packers were so deep at those positions that they couldn't beat out the guys ahead of them so really the big complaint seems to be "we had too many good players at those positions and had to cut a few. WTF Gute?"MVP2110 wrote:jute2003 wrote:If you're banking on a system like the brewers making these guys truly matter on a game to game basis, than you believe the guys making the decisions and doing the coaching know what they're doing...which means you trust their decisions and aren't complaining about fringe guys that likely won't matter.MVP2110 wrote:
I don't get this line of thinking tbh. The margins in sports absolutely can matter. The Brewers make a killing in baseball by being better than 99% of teams on the margins. It's not hard to find recent examples of bubble guys/practice squad guys who had to play significant snaps for the Packers(some good, some bad)
I like Gutey for sure, but he's not infallible by any means. I get that we're purely talking about depth guys here but the margins can absolutely matter in sports and acting like they don't is a line of thinking I just don't understand.
