Not sure how real this is -- just curious if you guys have seen this and discussed it already:
https://twsn.net/2024/08/the-sacramento-kings-will-trade-domantas-sabonis-to-the-new-york-knicks-3-team-tradeI was telling my buddy the other day, I know durability's an issue because he's always hurt but how about Wendell Carter Jr.? I've brought him up before as a possible big man to target. Then poking around the net, I saw this proposed trade...
So many of these trade ideas out there make little sense and you wind up laughing them off, but this isn't one of them. I feel this one legitimately helps all 3 teams.
I like Julius and I'm firmly in the camp of not just giving him away -- If we're even gonna deal him I want something back in return, never just looking to ship him out of town for nada.. NEVER... Just can't let that happen... But in this scenario, we'd definitely be getting something good back. I mean I'm a Julius fan but the reality is Sabonis is better. About an inch or 2 bigger, about a year and a half younger, a MUCH MORE EFFICIENT offensive player with little freelancing/ball-stopping (his offense comes much more in the flow), and he's an even better rebounder and defender.... They're comparable and it makes for a good argument, but for me, Sabonis is better all-around in my book.....And again I like Julius, I'm a fan!
However, I just can't get past giving up 3 impact players to get the one guy, so end of the day, I think I'd pass on this but it would be an incredibly tough pass.
Overall, I think this trade idea is a good one. Very interesting... Thoughts on this trade and also the following:
- If we did do this trade, would Sims, Hukporti, etc. be enough left over to man the middle?
- Speaking of Sims, anyone have anything on the overall improvements Sims supposedly made during the off-season? Anyone believe these rumors?
- How about a smaller trade idea for Wendell Carter by himself?
- I know it's under the bridge now and for all Leon and co/ have done, you think I'd learn to shut my mouth and not to be critical of them, but I tell ya, I just can't let go of not signing some of the good, low-cost C options that were out there -- Thomas Bryant, Jay Huff, Omer Yurtseven (I heard we actually worked Yurtseven out in July and offered him a contract, which he turned down. So what gives here -- had to have been only partially guaranteed or non-guaranteed. I mean did you really have to lowball the guy like that?).
- Still can't believe we passed on Kyle Filipowski at 25, knowing full well we probably were going to lose Hartenstein.
