I don't know about the future prospects of Dick as a starting SF, but I do think he's the best option on the team right now. Especially in terms of size and spacing for the other starters. Better than 6'4 202lbs Bruce Brown or Ochai who can't play basketball

I'd argue that having him as the 6th man might provide best balance to roster, as bench scoring is very thin, and Brown offers a glue piece and a guy that's solid defensively starting. I mean, depends on if we want to win, but a motivated contract year Bruce might get us something in return at deadline as well. I look at it with an open mind where either could be the option, but it should be earned in camp. Never been a fan of handing young guys a starting role before they've earned it.

The thing with Gradey is that he works much better when offense is created for him. He struggled in summer league when he was forced to create, and he's likelier to have to do that off the bench. I'd bet he looks best when he gets minutes with the starters, allowing him to move around the court to get open, cut when he's able to etc.

To some degree, true, but they run little actions for him and he'll get more of those off the bench. Curling around screens and handoffs and things like that were being run for him wherever he was in lineup last year. In starting lineup those were mostly being run for RJ and rightfully so. Also, on SL team he didnt' have guys like Scottie, RJ or Quick. Let's say you leave in Quick and RJ to finish out first Q and have Scottie start 2nd Q with bench unit, he still won't necessarily have a much different role in the offence. You could argue in the starting lineup he will get less touches. Time will tell, I'm just openminded to multiple scenarios, we don't know how Grady, Bruce or Ochai are going to look with the full roster once the season starts, although Ochai I'll be surprised if he's any good lol. If starting lineup with Grady gives up 35 points every first quarter, then I'm guessing Darko is going to do something about it, and most logical piece he can move is the one spot we're not certain of in starting line up.

Good for him. We've been needing someone who can control the ball thru traffic for a long time.

IQ breaking out is just what this team needs, specifically Scottie. They need to continue to develop the chemistry and cohesion between them.

It was around 26 years old that Kyle broke out with us. Definitely need the same thing from IQ. Here's to hoping.

When he was with NYK I always thought he was a prime Jason Terry level player in the making. He's a bit more of a point than JET, and a bit less of a pesky defender, but I look at him as having that level of impact, with similar quickness, size and shooting ability. And even though JET didn't rack up the all star appearances, he was the clear second option on a championship team in 2011 in crunch time. He might've been a little more valuable in todays game as his prime was before the Curry effect which would have had him jack a bunch more treys. That and IQ's decent enough point skills lead to him not be pigeon holed into a 6th man role. Would be nice to see him put up 20 pts, 6.5 assists this year with a bump up in efficiency.

Becoming a plus defender, certainly not out of the realm of possibility as soon as this year, would be huge.

The creation and scoring burden IQ and Scottie will have to do will be insane. It's unrealistic to expect anything other than slight above average defense for the most part, especially if Scottie is not a backline help defender. Guys like RJ and Yak really need to up their defense because they will have significantly less creation load.

I’m more concerned with him becoming an elite scorer. I don’t think Scottie is going to be that guy for us. If it’s neither of them then we are slightly ****’d.

All points to Bruno getting that last spot. He has been spending way too much time with the team just to be cut in a month. He is fine as back up C. Who knows whats going on with Koloko's return.

Frankly I am surprised to see Bruce out in Europe practicing. I always thought he was one of those 'I only stay in the USA' type guys for some reason; one of the reasons I thought he was going to force his way out of Toronto. Honestly it is very possible the FO actually likes Bruce and don't mind holding on to him unless a really good deal comes along. Bruce is not a bad player IMO, just overpaid.

The problem with the FO is that they like guys like Bruce who are good basketball players but limited scoring options. This team needs to think about shot distribution. We do well in the paint but lag behind in three point attempts. Brown is a guy that I think is really effective in the paint and can hit the occasional three.

We need to find guys we can trust shooting the ball as we don't have a lot of credible threats (IQ, Dick are the only 3P volume guys we really have). To me, this team lost OG and Trent and we need to fill 12.4 attempts per game and cannot expect Dick to just double his volume or think RJ can sustain his hot streak given his inconsistent shooting). Brown should be replaced by a shooter and I am hoping Walter can step up

Nice arc on that Mogbo shot release. Hopefully he’s another diamond in the rough like Siakam/OG.

TBH I haven't given mogbo much of a thought. But if he becomes our PJ Washington that would work. Maybe a better passer too.

He’s definitely a better passer maybe a better rebounder. The offensive end is where we hope he can catch up.

Still has the hitch in his release but he’s not releasing from his palm anymore. And his release point looks a bit higher. Still needs work.

In other news, Barnes looks to be in incredible shape. Super low body fat.
