I’m not sure how anyone who wants to be taken seriously could suggest any of the Nova guys have a chance at being traded.
I'm not at all concerned if you take me seriously. Feel free not to.
I'm assuming the Knicks organization is interested in competing for a title more than they are Villanova class reunions and that if a deal came up they believed made them better they would trade one of the guys they have upgraded. And for the record I don't take seriously the notion that all those Nova guys are going to retire as Knicks.
Multiple things can be true at the same time. The Knicks would prefer not to trade any over the Nova guys right now. But the Knicks also have major question marks in the front court and limited ways to take on salary or add value in a trade.
I think the most recent signings of Cam Payne and Shamet show that Duce McBride is being dangled for big man help. But if they can’t do that and the front court is a real issue, there might be no choice but to trade Hart or DDV and have McBride/Shamet play 15-20 MPG.
Winning a championship and keeping the Nova guys are not mutually exclusive. I agree that both can be true at the same time. Remember, they traded Ryan Arcidiacono to get better. So unless it’s a no-brainer, they aren’t going to trade the Nova guys. I definitely see depth as the Knicks strength as well as team chemistry:
Brunson (Nova) / Deuce / Kolek
Mikal (Nova) / DDV (Nova) / Cam Payne (Mikal’s buddy)
OG / Josh Hart (Nova) / Dadiet
Randle / Achiuwa / Bates-Diop
Mitch / Sims / most likely Marcus Morris
