We'd also struggle to match salary with Williams and we're over the apron (2nd now?). Reath, we could match pretty easily.
That said, I only pretend to understand the new cap restrictions.

I mean, I was thinking something like KBD or Payne and a 2nd for Reath and those seem to work once Payne is eligible to move.
I'm not bothering with Williams because Donte is the matching piece and we're not trading him and POR is loaded at SG anyway.

1) Trade Randle or a Nova guy (Hart or Donte). Randle has very low trade value and we will miss a ofense creator. I can not see the Front Office getting rid of a Nova guy right now (it would be awfull for morale). Its the only way to get a expensive center like Ayton.
2) Trade Deuce (4,7M) plus Sims/Pacome/Kolek (1,8 or 2M) and picks. We can get a player earning at most 6,5/6,7M because I heard we can not attach multiple min players in a trade. We could get only Richards or Kessler.
3) We can use Mitch as a trade filler. He has negative value right now and if we are trading him for another center, we will be still with only one good center on the roster. Attaching Deuce and a Min guy, we could get up to 21M. We could bring Vuc, Allen (I am not sure our picks are enough for him) or Poetl. I dont think its enough to land Capela or Lopez.
4) We can wait for Precious to be trade eligible (December 15th) and use him as a filler. Precious + Deuce + Min Guy + Picks could net us a 12,7M player at most. We could get Adams, Timelord, Holmes, JV, Carter, Jalen Smith and Goga.

I kind of glance through what I'm about to say, but can't the Knicks aggregate salaries from like January something to the trade deadline?

After mid-December, you can combine a few minimum contracts. Assuming Portland clears a few end of the bench players, you could trade Deuce, KBD, Okeke and Shamet in a 4 for 1 for Williams. Outside of a few picks, I don't see the basketball reason for Portland making that sort of move, but the numbers should at least work.

Wonder if mitch had some sort of setback? This has to be the front offices way of admitting that. He was basically back after 4 months after the first surgery and now he might need double that time? Maybe it’s cuz it’s the 2nd surgery in less than a year? They should call up Javale McGee or Dwight Howard to eat some innings for them.

POR doesn’t want any of those guys.
Salary and 2 SRP for Reath and call it a day.
