I hear you but I had time to think about it and I still don’t like the fit depending on the matchup. Especially if you consider that KAT isn’t going to be fighting for rebounds or doing the grunt work the defense needs from the Center position

Brunson/Bridges/OG/Precious/KAT

Works way better and moves Hart to the bench which desperately needs him because right now Mcbride is the best bench player on the team. Is it too late for Derrick Rose to un-retire!

Sims is STILL yall, must not have gotten the memo.

He had to play more like a wing because of Gobert, with us It should be a mix, we really should be able to do a lot of what the Celtics do with KP, where he spaces most of the time and the rest of the time they mismatch hunt and if you switch a small onto him they go to the post. Every game there should be an obscene amount of screens set for Brunson by KAT, imagine how Ihart used to do it except now there's an option for the guy at the top of the key to let it fly.

I expect Precious to start at the 4 next to him, keep the size and still be 5 out.

Sims is STILL staerting. Thibs will not degrade his bench by starting Precious. Sims has been the plan all along since July, the Randle /Kat trade has been in the works for months, given Randle's contract status.

Wow. Who expected to wake up to this?!

Mixed feelings. Love Randle gone/hate Donte gone.

I’m concerned from a depth and durability standpoint. Towns hasn’t been Mr Ironman his past four seasons. I think the fit is going to be great.

Can you guys imagine 5-6 years ago having a team like this??!!

Crazy what good management can do.

I think we’re gonna get more than people think from Morris, Payne, Shamet and Precious.

Let’s get this title already!!!
Trust but verify.

We have a few picks (and Pacome) to use to add depth by the deadline. I am not concerned.

I've seen a few videos of Sims working on his outside shooting and he seemed to be making a lot of his shots. So if we assume that Leon was planning things a long time, then this effort to make Sims a better player has been a part of it all along. Let's see how Jumpman does starting in about 10 days.

Very difficult to come back from a blunder like this financially. We went from a deep team with a lot of grit to an overpaid squad with lots of injury history. I don’t want to hyperbole too much but this team is one injury away from McDyess years.

Better scorer, better rebounder, better shooter, better defender. He’s better at everything except passing.

As a Knicks fan, I truly wish this was true but unfortunately I watched KAT enough to know he is pretty much a disappointment. If the center was such a big need, it would have been better to go after Gobert. At least he delivers on the defensive end. KAT plays little of it and he is quite easy to stop on the offensive end with a smaller player. Add the injuries and constant foul troubles, expect to see lots of Sims and Precious this season.

Which part isn’t true? Randle hasn’t been better than KAT at any of those things in his career. I’ve had a chance to watch KAT my fair share as well. He spaces the floor tremendously. He can catch and shoot, he can pick and roll/pop, he can come off screens and set them. And he’s been a much better, more efficient scorer than Randle has ever been. KAT being a sieve doesn’t make as much a different since Randle was on better. If anything, he’s shown even less effort than KAT on that end, who looked good next to Gobert. Wouldn’t be surprised if he plays next to Mitch in some lineups once he’s back. The issue with him is foul trouble as you mentioned, which I’m sure Randle would see himself in if he ever played C.

As a longtime timberwolves fan in saying that you can't play KAT at the 5 and be a good defensive team. They did it one year with Finch with really smoke and mirrors. That's why they had to bring in gobert and make him a 4. Problem also is that he really isn't a good defender at the 4. He gets lost a lot and was carried by 4 other great defensive players from the wilves staters. He's a great 3 point shooter that you want taking a bunch of 3s but you'll pull your hair out because he'll only take 2 3s but drive to the basket 10 times and pick up 3 offensive fouls

50 40 90 centers that can pass, use both hands. Dribble, and has potential defensively don’t grow on trees and I believe he had a slow start or was that the previous year? Plus he’s on the east now? Sheesh

Didn’t think about that. The Pacome pick always confused me. I saw no reason to take on a project Frenchman for a win now team.

ESPN says we'd still have to send out a non-minimum player: "Crucially, the Knicks also need to send out at least one non-minimum salary in order to be able to reach the required 14 players on their roster without exceeding the second apron." Who's next off the Island???

Looking back a little... pretty sure it's why they got Shamet. This FO is very deliberate

He’s playing the 5 opening up the floor for Brunson to have more space and outlets to shooters was a need. 3 40% shooters around Brunson and him himself can shoot 40 from 3 ain’t nothing to sneeze at. OG, Mikal, and Thibs on this team. We will be fine.

Ya know KAT is one of the best passing bigs in the league?

In what sense? Randle is a premier shot creator and commands a double in the post and anywhere inside the arc really. He got teammates wide open 3s all game long and the shot charts prove how much he enabled our shooters. He was going to have an insane number of 3 point threats around him this year.

KAT is a good passer? Averaging 3 assists on a stacked team? It looks to me like KAT is the ball stopper everyone thinks Randle is. I don’t trust KATs ability to create for himself and others. I feel like we are going to heavily rely on Brunson to do nearly everything when one of the best things about Julius was that he was able to do everything too and that’s takes pressure off Brunson. We lost that.

We now only have one single reliable creator

So cherry pick KAT’s assists stats from this season but not all the seasons he averaged between 4-5 assists…which is Randle’s average?

KAT plays within the flow of the offense and get his assists that way. He isn’t like Randle who holds the ball for 20 secs and then kicks it out when he has no shot available to him. Thank god I don’t have to see that anymore.
