It’s absolutely wild that we are still talking about this 3 years later on a completely different team..lmfao I love Doug but man, the loyalty to “his guys” is just **** weird… Press must have something real dirty on Doug that he doesn’t want press to reveal to the world.
Philly told him he had to fire Press and his response was to quit. After 2022, the Falcons (I believe) wanted to hire Press to be their OC. Doug blocked the move. Which is kind of weird if you believe in the guy, you'd want him to go somewhere else and succeed, no?
I don't know what he sees in Press
Also, fun fact, Press Taylor is the brother of Zach Taylor. Between the 2 of them and Brian Callahan (Zach's former OC in Cincinnati), their 3 teams are a combined 1-10 this year (Tennessee plays tonight, might get their first win because they're playing the Tua-less Dolphins)
I was talking about this with my friend at work today, between guys like Baker and Goff, who were both pretty good for a bit before falling off then getting traded and immediately becoming better, and guys like Darnold and Geno who were never really good until going to good situations, even Justin Fields now in Pittsburg who isn't lighting the world up but still looks good, I think a guy like Trevor is clearly more than good enough, it's the coaching that's the issue
Since firing Urban Meyer in week 13 of his rookie year, he's put up a per17 game average of:
4049 yards, 22 TDs, 11 INTs, 64.7% completion percentage, Rate of 89.8. And that's over 41 games, including the start to this year. If we just look at his last 2 full seasons he's at:
4188 yards, 24 TDs, 11 INTs, 65.9% completion percentage, Rate of 91.9, over 33 games
For context, Baker last year threw 4044 yards, 28 TDs to 10 INTs with a 64.3% completion percentage and a Rate of 94.6
Yeah, the low TD thing is a bit concerning, and Baker isn't seen as an elite QB by any means, but if Trevor's average over 2 and a half seasons is about where a good QB is and he's been seen as underachieving for most of it, I would say he's a good QB.
