Divo is actually a really poor defender...he is good at steals but gambles way too much.
Giving those minutes to Duece should improve our perimeter defense.
Watching Deuce run next to Brunson last season guarding 2s, which I wasn't sure he'd be able to do against starters when he was drafted, convinces me the Knicks won't lose that much with him off the bench instead of Divo now. He even can actually handle the ball a little, too, compared to Divo who is much more limited in that respect.
If Deuce continues his year over year improvement :
Duece can adequately replace Divo in almost every aspect except on range of the 3 ball. Divo had a little bit of that Curry range rubbed off on him from his time in Golden State.
That will be missed. But his defense is levels better than Divos ever was and his wingspan is actually better than Divos. So he can adequately replace him.
