But why this frequent reference to George’s age? When did being 20 yrs old somehow make you a risky draft pick?
Only in relation to some of the stunted aspects of his game. Normally a 20 year old draftee who is 6'9" would have some level of skill ability in rebounding, boxing out, interior play, etc. and an understanding of how to use their size. Or an explanation why not. A manchild like Hachimura who came to the game late, for instance. In this case the explanation is that he grew up learning the guard position and was not the tallest kid on the court from day one. No coach was posting him in the front court.
