Easy. Clingan is over 2 years younger than Edey. Clingan is a better defender. Edey has a somewhat polished offensive game, but it requires specific plays run for him in order to unlock his full potential. What would Clingan have looked like with 2 more years of college? That's what we should be comparing...
Clingan plays good defense with opportunistic scoring and is a good passer. Plus he's not "the guy", so he can more easily fit into a variety of offensive schemes. His offense has a ways to go, however.
As for the championship game...if you're looking at boxscore, yeah, Edey put up better numbers. But in the second half UCONN adjusted and Clingan contained Edey well.
Edey is going to be GREAT for the Grizz--his screen setting alone should be an instant boon for that team.
I like both players and am happy that there some new bigs coming into the league that aren't just 'space and pace'.
