Re: WNBA players opt out of CBA
the new economic model will be the biggest key i think. they need to get it set up so that if/when the media deal gets renegotiated in a few years, everything automatically jumps up without having to renegotiate the cba again (assuming the league can keep the growth going and they get a big spike in media dollars coming in)

Could be bigger since she and the Fever are expected to be even better. They have the money to add FA, so they could quickly become a real dark horse contender if it gels right.
I hope there will be less focus on drama and more on the game. Sooner than later I think she’ll cease being the new girl, and just be “one of us.”
Hope she becomes a PU leader in the foreseeable future, obviously a huge voice in the league.
I think only way it goes up in a significant matter is if the CC effect really did get a lot of new fans to watch teams other than Fever. Otherwise I think there's a better chance that the attendance numbers cool off now that the novelty of "rookie year proving herself" thing isn't there anymore, along with less drama.
I don't think she'll be treated as "one of us" for a long time. certainly not enough to be anywhere near PU any time soon. I think with everything that happened this season a lot of players are going to want to see her be very vocal and active about certain things for a while before they can "embrace" her.
When you’re a star like Clark, winning and rising in the standings is more powerful than any rookie year novelty thing. People want to attach themselves to winning. The Fever will win more next season and be a higher seed.
I think she’ll be embraced very soon. All the supposed “hate” is overblown and primarily machinations in the minds of a certain segment of people that don’t care to support the league regardless, wherein their idea of Clark (not Clark herself) is only a support beam for their own personal world view.
Maybe it will be awhile, if ever, before she joins PU leadership. Not because of any of the bs you stated. More that incumbent people may stick to their positions for awhile which isn’t unusual in any elected office. Or, Caitlin may choose to use her time to stick to her business and off-court opportunities.

Bros got an entire fanfiction written up in his head about a persons core belief system if they happen to post that they think CC took a couple directed cheap shots this past season.
I’m not sure what happens to cause someone to turn to amateur WNBA thought policing but I’m glad it didn’t happen to me

there is always going to be greedy people. the players have the threat of a strike in their back pocket, but a strike could hurt the players more. it would kill all of the momentum that has been gained
there is some risk for the owners too (read a couple of articles saying that half the teams in the league would have folded if the 2020 season wasn't played, considering the league still isn't profitable yet a strike could doom some teams) but i think the bigger risk is to the players

I think those people are very few, and they’re not wrong. By comparison it sure seems like way more people subscribe to a narrative that those couple shots = basically the whole league hates her.

Both of you trolls constantly make up narratives and falsehoods about the other 143 players in the league hating Caitlin Clark and you're calling someone else a white knight?

MDB you should feel really special, some posters are more obsessed with you than the actual sport they follow.

I wish they actually spent as much energy and time watching the actual games and supporting the league as they do trolling this board, we can use all the help we can get.

Re: WNBA players opt out of CBA
so we're in a waiting period on this? they have a year to negotiate a new agreement?
betting the only way this gets done before next season starts is if the women's college season continues with amazing attendance/viewer numbers

I’m thinking Unrivaled doing really good numbers would contribute more to get a deal done quickly.

Weird how many people want into a league that's supposedly dead in the water. Don't ya think?
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.
