Same, though I'd absolutely love this benchRichCollab wrote:eyriq wrote:?t=sbZ4mQQfVeEV2X8RU7vICg&s=19

It's been pretty bad - 11 days without power and I had more damage to my home and town than I ever had down in FL (including Charley), but I still consider myself one of the very lucky ones. I have friends who no longer have homes - and here I am on the internet in time to watch the season opener. This is going to be much, much needed relief.

Man, so glad to hear about your community coming together, I find that really reassuring. That is crazy how much structural damage your home encountered. Sounds like you have a beautiful property though. Seven trees lost? I'd cry at that alone, I love my two oaks lol.Audi wrote:eyriq wrote:Holy hell man, so sorry you are going through all that. Yep - got all the help I needed and more. All the stories you see about the communities coming together is true...brings a tear to my eyes thinking about it. I had my neighbors over here checking on us even while trees were still falling. Government assistance has been fine, but I never expected much to begin with..got $750 from FEMA when things first got hairy and the Ntl guard showed up for a few days but then moved on to other harder hit communities. I also live close to Samaritan's Purse national offices/staging areas so my area was some of the first to get quick help. Luckily all my damage was tree related instead of water, so insurance covered it (lost 7 trees in my yard, the worst one was one that fell on the power line running to my house which tore down the power box - and therefore the entire attached top side of my house with it, leaving a gaping hole into my attic). The flooding is what really did a number on folks and very, very few carry flood insurance around here (you don't plan on 1,000 yr floods happening).

What do you say, Soul? Should we get a playoff-seeding thread going now? haha, JK,

Reason being, we only got three preseason games (four was already less than most teams, and then one got canceled) , with only the final one being a kinda sorta ramp-up game. And on top of that, that didn't come against a competitive opposing squad. So I genuinely question how ready the team is to start the season. Combine that with a tall task of a solid Heat team in Miami, and I just don't see us being up to the task. Which wouldn't warrant any ridiculous hot takes if we do lose badly, but I know they'd happen anyway.

Gotta get a light sweat in before the season starts
