They might be scrubs but they're scrubs with upside. If we give them minutes and develop them, they'll get better and won't be scrubs anymore. The hope is that at least 1 or 2 of them develop into a solid rotational piece. That's less likely to happen if they're on the bench in favor of LOnnie Walker - a guy who's about to turn 26, with 6 yrs of NBA experience so he has much less upside.

At this point, Walker pretty much is who is he - a guy who all 30 teams passed on offering a roster spot to.

We won the game by 20. If we had Walker in there during garbage time, we would have won by 20. It wouldn't have made a difference.

You are certainly higher on them than me. None of Rico/Walsh/Davison/Springer/Peterson will come close to being the player Walker is. And I also disagree with you when you say we still would’ve won by 20 with Lonnie out there. Walker might suck defensively, but so do those other guys. At least Lonnie can fill it up.

This is great. We get to see the Boston Celtics and the Maine Celtics in every game.

G League Preseason starts in 4 days. Let's see if he gets stashed on our Maine Squad.
Really would be great for Walker coming off our Bench. He's better than the Bottom 5. By a mile.

Voted for Lonnie Walker. Fire Brad for not spending $10M on a garbage time scorer.

And yes, you will just get mad at Pyscho Joe for not making Lonnie part of the regular rotation.

Anyway, if we win by less than 20 at any point this season, we deserve better.

From what I'm seeing after 2 games, the Jays are on another level.

JT is now a great passer.

JB's bully ball reminds me of Shawn Kemp.

And both Jays are now making the right reads and finding the open man.

Warm up game, but good win anyway. Felt Scal and Drew were a bit too cocky.

Horford's point count tends to correspond with how team-oriented the team plays. Tonight Al had 0 points. Onto the next.

That Pritchard heave was ridiculous despite it not counting. Tillman 3pt shooting getting positive results. Not much to complain about after 2 games. I'll nitpick a bit and point out how poorly Davison played and I continue to be a little perplexed about their approach with Springer in preseason and through 1st 2 games. Walsh didn't hit his shots but thought he handled the ball confidently and Peterson was Sir Stocks in his stretch out there.

Went with Brown. Tale of two halves for both Jays. Brown was kinda ass in the first half while Tatum was dominant and then that flipped in the second half. Nice to see Brown making his free throws early on this season

crazy pace to this game in the first half. Seemed more like a pick up game in the park, very entertaining though! C's locked them up in the second half . Solid start to the season.

I managed to stay awake for the game!! Couldn't make it to the post game stuff even though as I was out and woke up to league pass telling me the event had ended.

Drew, who I was once in the large group who thought he was a charity case of a 2-way because we didn't have better options at the time, might be our best 2-way player. It's hard to evaluate these garbage time minutes, but he moves the ball well enough (due to his pg time in Maine), shoots decent enough, provides the stocks you look for in a Hauser level defender, and shoots well enough to not be a liability. Walsh is too up and down. Sometimes he's terrible even for garbage time, and sometimes he looks like he could take Brissett's minutes. JD looks like he's always ready for Maine.

The top 9 looks pretty set though with Queta looking pretty good as the 9th man. Of course every one on that back end slides down a spot with KP comes back.

How long until we hear the lazy narrative that Tatum isn't clutch because he never scores in the 4th though lol

Steve Kerr & Nike as a combined entity even if not directly related should do the trick.

My big takeaway from this game was that Boston did a solid job adapting to Washington playing a little more aggressive and trying to run them off the line. They didn't run the same blueprint as the Knicks game
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
So the first game was a super dominant victory followed by another casual blowout and we have less than ten pages combined in the Post game threads :o :-?

I miss the days of message board drama on here. :D

Went with JT for VC, almost triple double in 29 minutes. Tatum off to a super start. JB back in a groove with a very nice game for CP. Celtics with a couple of fun games coming up with Detroit and Milwaukee. Keep it going!

I disagree with you when you say we still would’ve won by 20 with Lonnie out there. Walker might suck defensively, but so do those other guys. At least Lonnie can fill it up.

What are you saying exactly? That we would have won by 24 instead of 20 if Lonnie was in there at garbage time?

With all due respect, that's a really pointless thing to debate :)

Either way, we win by 20+ points, so who cares? Again, we mine as well play the young guys and develop them if we win by 20+ points either way..

Also, Springer and Walsh definitely do not suck defensively. Not sure there's anything logical to base that on..

Parasite wrote:You are certainly higher on them than me. None of Rico/Walsh/Davison/Springer/Peterson will come close to being the player Walker is.

-That's your opinion. Hard to buy it though when all 30 teams passed on offering Walker a roster spot. Perhaps he's just not as good as some Celtics fans think..

-Peterson and Davison are on 2-way contracts. Saying that they won't be as good as Walker isn't super relevant. We're paying both of them peanuts and can cut them at anytime, as 2-way contracts are non-guaranteed. Walker is not eligible for a 2-way contract.

-Scheierman was a consensus 1st round pick..many even saw him as a top 20 prospect in this draft class. Let's give him some time. Sure, he's old for a rookie but so was Hauser, Strus, Duncan Robinson, Derrick White, FRed VanVleet, Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, Haywood Highsmith, etc. and they were all g league guys their rookie year. Then look what the developed into.

-Walsh and Springer are over 3 years younger than Walker. So there's pretty clear upside with both of them..and they both have guaranteed contracts for this season. Walker was just on an exhibit 10 deal and as we all know, would've cost the team like $11 mil in additional salary/taxes.

With the 14 guys we already had on guaranteed contracts, plus our 3 2-way guys (so 17 total players) that's plenty of depth and talent to get through the season. With or without walker, we're heavy title favorites and won our first 2 games by 20+ points. Hard to justify paying the extra $11 mil for Walker, imo..
