MIA - NOP - UTA - HOU: Butler and Ingram
Picks and small filler as needed (where, from who? I assume just 2nds would be needed?)
MIA trades: Jimmy Butler
in: Brandon Ingram
Miami trades Butler for a younger all-star(ish) player.
NOP trades: Brandon Ingram
in: Dillon Brooks, Walker Kessler, Jock Londale
New Orleans gets a center and serviceable wing for Ingram, opens minutes for Murphy/Jones/Hawkins.
HOU trades: Dillon Brooks, Tari Eason, Jock Londale, Jae'Sean Tate
in: Jimmy Butler
Houston trades for an older star player to mentor Amen Thompson and elevate the team.
UTA trades: Walker Kessler
in: Tari Eason, Jae'Sean Tate (into MLE)
Utah flips Kessler for a wing and sets themselves up to win about 5 games after trading their only good defender. They also get some forward depth after losing Hendricks for the season.

Re: MIA - NOP - UTA - HOU: Butler and Ingram
Again, if we wanted Butler, we would have just preserved our cap space and pursued him in free agency.
Take out Eason, and replace with whatever pick Houston ends up with in 2025 (its complicated and highly variable), top 10 protected.
Would not move any of our young core for him.

I don't think it is ever that simple, like, I could say that about Utah and Giannis. But the truth is, if you want a player sometimes you have to trade for them to guarantee that it happens. Houston *might* be able to sign Jimmy if they have cap space, but there is not guarantee (just as there would be no guarantee that he'd resign, hence why the cost is Tari Eason and not multiple assets).

That may be the case.
But still not moving Eason for him.
Mid first protected would be the offer.

I just don't see it for the Pels. You really dilute Kessler's value by attaching those other contracts to him. Maybe see if a playoff team that doesn't have Herb Jones wants Brooks. Maybe the Hornets think they can be a playoff team with Brooks

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I'd rather have the cap space than Ingram, who I assume is extending. I'm just not a fan. So, I'd rather have the better player for another year and then let him go and have the flexibility, rather than the limited Ingram.

Whether you can develop them doesn't matter you can't pay them all. You get to pick 3 maybe 4.

I mean, if the Rockets were actually interested in Butler, sure.
Nothing their FO have actually done and said suggest that is the case. It's almost certainly Butler's team using Houston as leverage.

I'm sure they'll be the first NBA players ever that don't care about money.

You have shifted your goalpost from "develop" to "pay"

I didn't shift anything, I said it doesn't matter if you can develop them. My only point was that you can't pay them

Nah. You can't do either regardless of where the goalpost is.
