Kerr is so adverse to putting decent shooting around Steph in lineups.
What the heck is this GPII/Wiggins/Dray/TJD starting group.

Re: 2024-25 NBA Season Discussion
It's early but Jordan Poole is playing an excellent game this season.
He leads the league with 2.8 SPG, and is averaging 1.2 BPG. His 4.0 stocks/game is 2nd in the NBA behind Chet Holmgren.
Glad he's looking to be getting back on the trajectory he was on after the 2022 season.
And then on the other end of the spectrum, the Warrior's have a punchers chance of being competitive this season with Dray playing like this. He's shooting over 40% from 3 since the beginning of last year.

I'm going to jump the gun here and say that the Warriors look like title contenders again. Always thought that Hield would be perfect on this team and so far he looks a lot better than Klay ever did during their 2022 run. Steph doesn't look like he's lost a beat and Draymond somehow got his shot back.

Probably best to wait until things settle. They won't be a nearly -9 defense all season and they probably won't be a +7 offense all year either. Hield definitely isn't going to continue shooting over 50% from 3 over the whole year.
It's very, very early days yet.

Because Draymond isn't on an Olympic team like he used to be. So he can just shoot with confidence instead of feeling out of place because there's 3 other guys who should shoot more than him, and there's a psychological trap in feeling like he should never shoot.
Omri Casspi, a career good shooter refused to shoot on the 17 Warriors and got cut for it. And he fit in real well everywhere else on the floor with them. Shot 60% from the field.
Now, Draymond knows they actually need him. So now he's aggressive about it. He hit 6 3's in a finals game 7. This guy can shoot when he feel he has to.
A huge thing to see is GP2 is fully right. This guy was the best role player of the past 20 years dating back to old David Robinson IMO.
And Looney seems healthy again too. Hield is not the reason for this dominance. He helps obviously, but defensively GP2, Podziemski and Looney are on fire.
Swinging for the fences.

They're gonna lose 3 in a row at some point, and people will lose their minds in the other direction in overreaction, don't worry.

Still too soon to say.
They got off to a good start last season too.

NBA teams love taking the easy way out and recycling the same names over and over again even when they're proven failures. Doc is also a slick talker who can convince teams to hire him in spite of his resume and then keep saving his job for years with a constant stream of excuses.

Compared to last year it's not dramatic but Curry has been on a steady decline when it comes to his ability to create and convert shots at and around the rim. He is still supremely skilled and a tough cover for anyone plus he's legitimately strong now but in terms of explosiveness, speed and body flexibility the continuous decline is noticeable. He relies more than ever on smarts and the ability to create and convert jump shots.

I do not know, are we sure Curry is better than Jalen Brunson?

FWIW, he shot the highest percentage from 0-3 feet of his entire career in 2023. Then he shot 69.2% last season, which was the 4th-highest of his career. Where he had declined in those two seasons was actually in the generation of shots there, not at all in his ability to convert when he got there. He also saw his lowest assisted percentage on 2PA since 2016, barring his 5-game season.
This year, he's shooting 46.2% from 0-3 feet, and on 17.8% of his total volume. So that works out to him being approximately 5/13.
This is not a sample worth commenting on at this time, particularly given how he's looked over the past half-decade.

I would be careful with viewing higher efficiency as an indicator of greater ability. Curry shooting considerably fewer shots around the rim has most definitely something to do with his declining ability to get there at will, but it most likely also reflects a declining ability to finish in traffic. To put it simply: if I can't finish as well as I used to, I'm likely to pick my spots more carefully. It's similar to shooters: you have some high-efficiency but low-volume 3pt shooters every year. Good efficiency at low volume can be indicative of limited ability (or else volume would be higher) but smart shot selection.
