117.3 ORTG (8th amongst lineups >48 mins)
119.4 DRTG (25th amongst lineups >48 mins)
-2.1 NRTG (12th amongst lineups >48 mins)

That defensive rating is unacceptable

I'm thinking that we might need to put Precious in at PF when he returns and move OG back to SF.

It's actually Mikal with the worst DRTG of the starters which is the most surprising thing.

Mikal is pissing me off because he is bringing over bad habits that he developed in the place that shall not be mentioned. His defense in the passing lanes has been okay but he's been awful on ball and I find his rotations to be lazy.

I expect better and so should everyone else here. He is not this bad of a defender and he needs to get his ass in gear.

we need to start Achiuwa or McBride depening on matchups

that will give Bridges moro room to roam either by playing small and faster or by drawing up plays for him both off ISOs and off the curls/double screens (flex, horns and triangle)

Scheme doesn't seem to be working. Yet, anyway. I expect OG and Hart to do well because they have a year under Thibs, so they know their assignments. Bridges on defense kind of looks like Hart just after the trade. The trio of OG, Bridges, and Hart are trying to compensate for JB and KAT to boot. I mentioned this a few times, I really don't think Hart works. He should be the 6th man. Precious should be starting with KAT, and KAT can come off the weak side, and you still have your switchability.

Why is the Knicks schedule to start the season so difficult? Feels like we have played only one genuinely bad team so far.

One of the problems in a nutshell. Precious was a decent screener last year, too.

A combination of a tough schedule and there being fewer bad teams in the NBA with the increasing parity (due to the cap rules).

More teams are competent.

Josh has the second worst DRTG in the starting lineup, he and Mikal are gambling too much for steals and neither are really good at POA defense against smaller guards.

How the hell did you not make that list?

Cause Buzz and I go back to the ESPN/K4L days and I know he doesn't mean it. You clowns mean it and it's embarrassing to turn on a player who saved and revived the franchise and took a huge pay cut to stay 7 games into the season. DISGRACEFUL! :nonono:

Accountability is one thing but lack of loyalty and trust is another. Especially with a guy who revived the franchise and took such a massive pay cut to stay here. It's a bad look.

send him in the package for greek freak!!

Which seems to reinforce Josh should be a 6th man. I can live with gamblers. But you can't have 2 gamblers in the starting lineup with a weak interior defense.

It wouldn't shock me if our best lineups turned out to be:

Brunson-McBride-Hart-OG-KAT

Or Brunson-McBride-OG-KAT-Precious

I already had some concerns about Mikal's spot in the starting lineup before we traded for KAT, if you remember. My prediction was that Divo needed to start and one of our three forwards (Mikal, OG, or Randle) needed to come off the bench for better balance.

If Mikal can bring Phoenix-level defense then he's pretty much a guaranteed starter but otherwise, I think a case could be made for switching McBride and Mikal.

It will also be interesting to see how Precious's return affects the rotation.

It's a sign of respect in my opinion. You want the big match ups early on for good teams.

It also gives the team an idea of just how much work lies ahead. Beating up bums doesn't do that for you.

Staying in front of your man should be their focus. Opportunities to pick off sloppy passes will be there but gambling only hurts the team defensively

Beating bums would be nice for building team chemistry though, now Knicks losing early games before chemistry to teams that may hurt us at the end of the season with seeding and stuff. So it's frustrating.

Seems like the NBA setting up the Knicks for failure on purpose
