Mikal is pissing me off because he is bringing over bad habits that he developed in the place that shall not be mentioned. His defense in the passing lanes has been okay but he's been awful on ball and I find his rotations to be lazy.
I expect better and so should everyone else here. He is not this bad of a defender and he needs to get his ass in gear.
Scheme doesn't seem to be working. Yet, anyway. I expect OG and Hart to do well because they have a year under Thibs, so they know their assignments. Bridges on defense kind of looks like Hart just after the trade. The trio of OG, Bridges, and Hart are trying to compensate for JB and KAT to boot. I mentioned this a few times, I really don't think Hart works. He should be the 6th man. Precious should be starting with KAT, and KAT can come off the weak side, and you still have your switchability.
Josh has the second worst DRTG in the starting lineup, he and Mikal are gambling too much for steals and neither are really good at POA defense against smaller guards.
It wouldn't shock me if our best lineups turned out to be:
Brunson-McBride-Hart-OG-KAT
Or Brunson-McBride-OG-KAT-Precious
I already had some concerns about Mikal's spot in the starting lineup before we traded for KAT, if you remember. My prediction was that Divo needed to start and one of our three forwards (Mikal, OG, or Randle) needed to come off the bench for better balance.
If Mikal can bring Phoenix-level defense then he's pretty much a guaranteed starter but otherwise, I think a case could be made for switching McBride and Mikal.
It will also be interesting to see how Precious's return affects the rotation.
