Flagg basically looked the part tonight. High level defender, point forward skills, really damn good from the mid range and attacking the basket. The 3pt shot is the biggest “hole” in his game that needs the most work.
I think his mid level outcome is like top 20 player, and I actually think that's closer to the lower part of that range.
He had a beautiful crossover for a jumper that just missed. But he appears to be a good free throw shooter so I'm confident he can be a mid-40s percentage midrange guy once he's like 21. He's super fluid as an athlete and he's only 17 so he will only get stronger, probably get up to 215 or so without losing mobility. I think he will be a top 10 player. Is that generational? Idk it depends. But due to various issues, neither Zion nor Ja have been consistent top 10 guys, and I think Cooper lacks the clear flaws that they have.
I see a 22/8/6 on +3 or +4 TS% in a few years barring something unexpected. Throw in all-nba defense and that's a certifiably elite guy.
Cooper's already like 205-210 pounds now. He's wide-bodied and broad-shouldered (bi-acromial breadth/bi-cristal breadth/bi-trochanteric breadth); he has a sturdy frame with well-formed, long limbs (femur bicondylar breadth/humerus bicondylar breadth.)
He'll probably be 215+ pounds by his first NBA preseason game. 235 pounds like Aaron Gordon in his prime.
