If he accelerates the process, things will get very interesting from a drafting perspective as well. Why go for a C if he shows he is the C we need? But that kind of thinking is a long way off, more likely to influence the 2026 draft when Toronto has two first round picks.
Two things I note about his box score last night - four blocks, and he fouled out in 24 minutes of action. That's sort of how Koloko started off, high block rate but too many fouls defending. I'll be watching the fouling thing as he develops because for a defensive C, that's a major consideration. Bring down the fouling and he has a long career ahead of him as at least a situational defender, but hopefully much more.
I think he could be a rotational PF/C that is taller, rebounds and protects the rim better than Chris Boucher. Maybe he becomes a platoon starter. I think Cleveland is showing how the Mobely / Jarrett Allen twin towers is working as they can cover some PF's too.
There is now an influx bigs with Clingan, Edey and this draft, Maluach, Kalkbrenner, Ivisic.
OKC is bucking the trend by just putting out their best players even though the tallest is 6'6.
