I would have never thought Josh Hart would have a better 3-point percentage than Mikal Bridges at this point in the season.

If Bridges is going to be our Khris Middleton, he needs to be more involved in the offense and hitting threes at 37%+.

This broken shot stuff needs to be fixed. I am no expert, but his form on threes seems to be inconsistent.

But his midrange game has been nice so far for us.

Beyond the three point shot issue, we need to see a high level of defense on a consistent basis.

If Mitch were healthy and playing well, you could argue Bridges off the bench could be the best way to optimize the rotations.

sham hated the team so much he left

I hope he's alright. I thought Melo said he had personal issues of some sort.

As much of a grumpy old man as he was I always liked him. Maybe because he made me laugh but, beyond him, there's just no one around anymore. I noticed the decline a couple of years ago but, it seems like it's just rapidly decreasing and we all posted through years of garbage basketball together. Now we have something worth posting about and it's quiet.

I don't miss the negative Nancy's that hide when things are going good. I know they are somewhere lurking hoping it all fails before they come around to post. Some are still here but, they post a LOT less than they used to because too much good is happening for them to ruin the board with nonsense.

It's just weird how much the threads have shortened now that we have something good going on.

There will be ups and downs in one's life.

It's been two decades since I started to post in realgm, I am feeling old now and glad to see Knicks contending.

What I am missing is a maiden trip to NYC and watch a game in MSG.

our 4th qtr net rating is dismal. 2nd worst in the league at -13.6.

I hate to put that all on the amount of minutes our starters play because another part is a new team learning to play together...but the minutes are a major factor. Its just hard to sustain that level of focus and execution especially on defense when you are playing so many minutes.

It's definitely rough to keep up the anticipation and sprint into the closeouts late in a game. The 4th quarter net rating is scary bad, and part of that is chemistry but fatigue makes it obvious when there are chemistry problems. It's a lot easier to anticipate that you'll need to cover for another defender, when you've seen them make the switch or the close out consistently for a bunch of games.

He's almost turned into a pass first guy the past week. Have to think it's intentional since that one post game where he said he has to get KAT going. It's paying major dividends on offense. The ball is swinging like crazy and we're seeing way less stagnation than we did early in the season.

While KAT being awesome out the gate has been nice to calm the nerves after the trade, this latest boom has been all about Brunson and his sacrifice as the alpha of the team.

What a joy to watch he is. And he still isn't even playing at his best IMO.

gotta agree. we asked and we received. that's what i want to see from my captain

Perspective on KAT for those that are impressed by what he's done so far.

His current 32.9 MPG would not be a new career high
His current 17.4 FGA would not be a new career high
His current .544 FG% would not be a new career high
His current .556 2P% would not be a new career high
His current 5.1 3PA would not be a new career high
His current 5.5 FTA would not be a new career high
His current .847 FT% would not be a new career high
His current 2.9 ORB would not be a new career high
His current 12.4 RPG would not be a new career high
His current 3.0 APG would not be a new career high
His current 0.8 STL would not be a new career high
His current 0.8 BPG would not be a new career high

His current .662 TS% would be a new career high, but he's been above .640 3 times in his career already.

His current .515 3P% is the only thing that's noticeably above his career averages, and even though that will come down, it is not cartoonish as he's one of the best 3P shooters in league history.

It's incredible to realize that this isn't a guy off to a hot start, this is exactly who Karl-Anthony Towns is on the regular, for the most part. A multi-faceted all-time level efficient scorer.

Greenie and that Bulls fan clown. Jimmit. It has definitely slimmed down some. Shams is on hiatus.

Maybe the RJ/Randle/Frank etc wars drove the post count up but, it definitely seems like the post/page count has dropped dramatically and several posters have not been around or were banned.

I remember never being able to follow the game threads at all because the posts would be a page or two behind by the time I hit send and, the post game threads having far more pages than they do now.

Oh well. I am shot so, I'll take your word for it.

Overall the boards are the same but it fluctuates based on team and win or loss. In general, enthusiasm for the NBA is waning some.

I could write a book on it but I think the NBA is losing people's hearts - attention at least - for various reasons, some of which have very little to do with basketball. It has been in scramble mode since COVID. But they have to contend with major headwinds and I don't think the measures they've implemented necessarily help.

We still love hoops.

Its easier and cheaper to pull up an illegal stream than subscribe to all the services to watch a game.

Sorry, I got pulled away for some bedtime activities before I could finish.

I expected the offense to be the easy part. We have so many weapons and Towns is better than I realized. The defense is the harder construction. I've liked what we've seen from Mikal the past few games. Finally starting to find his place here. Wiz are a bad barometer but them and the Nets had trouble getting theirs so that's a good sign.

I appreciate the confidence on this board that I carry that kind of commanding allure though.

Capping starters at 35 mins when Deuce and Precious return is going to be critical. For now, Sims, Payne, and Dadiet have to hold the fort. It's clear as day that the starters are gassed in 4th quarters in close games.

We also have to play at a faster offensive pace... I notice we look much more fluid when we get into our sets quicker and not think as much. Just attack and swing.

The switch to high volume three point shooting has definitely taken some of the substance out of the game. Just running back forth chucking threes too often. One and done offense and then scrambling back to try and play D while the other team runs up the court and jacks a three. It can be pretty ugly when the shots aren't falling. The superteams took a lot out of it too for a while. Not being allowed to play defense. Superstar leniency with calls. Foul baiting and flopping. Now with all of the gambling people think the refs are in on the fix with the terrible officiating. Then the stupid gimmicks have also turned people off. The streaming blackouts. Terrible all star games. It's a different game from the one I grew up watching.

I think that's only the tip of the iceberg.

I'll be honest. Outside of the Knicks, I have no interest in NBA hoops. The product is just stale and the reasons are listed above.

On the flip side, i was locked in all summer on WNBA games, I'd pull up any games regardless if it were the Liberty, Fever. Etc. It was more engaging and fun to watch for me personally. The style of basketball is less about threes and more of a mixture like it was in the 00s. The refs, who suck, also don't play favorites, and the play is super physical.

I dunno. The League just isn't fun anymore. The Knicks bring me joy. Everything else? Meh. I would rather watch a movie or play a video game than watching an NBA marquee match up not involving the Knicks.

We do, but we're also crazies with an unhealthy attachment to a message board with circa-2002 emojis and to illegal streaming, the last bastion of our illusions of political subversion.

That's a big factor.

Someone else pointed it out. Hurt hand might have limited some off season reps. Adjusting to passing more/looking shot less. New baby in the house.

I think he's warmed up now.

Brunson generally starts like this, a little off on his shot.
