It's the opposite. They play better because he's a prolific playmaker who can move the rock like Jason Kidd

EDIT: I fully expect plenty of backlash to this comment, I also don't care enough about the Hornets or Lamelo to really get into any protracted back and forth convo with anyone here about it.

Cade Cunningham couldn't lace Lamelos shoes.

*whispers* they’re basically the same player, LaMelo just shoots an ungodly amount of shots.

You are casting pearls before swine.
No one has actually watched the Hornets start to finish. They throw in their casual comments and continuously shift the goal posts.

I watched against the Bucks last week. LaMelo has become a chucker. I watched him get the inbounds pass, dribble up the court, wave away a screen and chuck up a shot - on 6 straight possessions. Some of the shots went in due to his incredible skill level. Most didn’t. But he killed any effort his teammates would make as he completely ignored them. He went to Miller a couple times later in the game, was good to see.
He chucked up 35 shots in another L tonight. Don’t tell me he shouldn’t pass the ball. Dame beat the Heat last night with a similar talentless Bucks team, missing Giannis and Middleton.
Pass the ball LaMelo. Too good a player to just be a chucker.

LaMelo still put in 32 points and went 4/7 from 3 in the 4th. Hornets really had a great chance at a win too. When that's a bad game, you know that's a special player.

Obviously a fun player to watch and a heck of a scorer, but he's basically jacking up an ungodly amount of shots, and putting up zero effort on defense (other than fouling out all the time). He's one of the worst defenders in the NBA. The Hornets don't have much other than he and Miller, so I can't really blame him, but still. That usage rate is crazy.

You want a 40yr old Taj Gibson taking shots that currently his starting center.
How about Josh Green? Yeah who he plays for.
Oh wait can I interest you in Cody Martin? Yeah never heard of em huh?
If that's not good enough what about Moussa Diabate who can't catch a cold.
Cmon bro he has to chuck when he has nobody outside of Miller who can score a basketball. Talk to me when he has a healthy roster and not missing our 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th starting and rotation pieces.
That's what we going through right now my man.
