Much better to keep the lottery pick and reload.
Cut Curry, Rhoden, Jeffries, Gibson, load up on some talent in the G League and re-sign Jalen McDaniels, and then get Cooper Flagg.
IDK I am torn because while getting a top 5 pick in theory sounds alright, we also are seeing LaMelo enter the next level of development and us getting to play a real 6 game playoff series feels like it would be pretty massive for LaMelo, Brandon, Coach Lee in our development timetable. We are 2 games out of the 6 seed right now because the East is so bad this year.
If we are out of the playoffs in Feb and LaMelo is still playing like this it will be a bombardment with Hornets should trade LaMelo from all media outlets. Just doesn't feel like a very healthy place to be as a franchise at that point whether we are adamant we aren't trading him or not. We have a surplus of picks, spending some of that now might not be that bad. If it works and we sneak into the playoffs it would probably give us the confidence to actually pull the trigger on the big trade down the road.
