Where do you stand on the Sixers tanking the season?

I legitimately want the Sixers to tank, I've officially given up on the season and want them to lose.

I joke and say I want them to tank, but I watch games and hope they win. I'm not there...yet.

I don't want them to tank at all, I still have hopes for this season.

Lots of comparisons here between Joel & Giannis and, as a Nets fan, I think it’s unfair

Reality is that the Bucks probably won their title because Giannis injured Kyrie and Harden was on one leg

Also had KD wearing clown shoes that turned a 3 into a 2 :banghead:

That “luck” is the difference between the two being talked about in the same way

You can win with Embiid (if he’s still healthy) with a few tweaks and the same luck required by all championship teams

The question that needs answering is whether Embiid is permanently crocked

If so, then sit him, tank and try and get something for him in the offseason

No, he wasn’t, no, he isn’t, and he probably never will be fully healthy. Even if he does manage to get better, it’s safer to assume that his health will always be a concern. I’m not saying he’ll never play, but he will likely continue to have stretches where he’s either missing games or playing below his best—what I call being “spiritually absent,” lethargic, or not fully engaged.

It’s like relying on a key player who can occasionally light up the scoreboard but also has periods where they’re off the court or not performing at their peak. So, it’s smarter to have a backup plan in place—which is to have another alpha that can be an engine to the system ready to step up and keep the team running smoothly, both during the regular season and in the playoffs without Embiid.

The situation is more like late stages of Derrick Rose with the Bulls back then or late stages of Patrick Ewing with the Knicks.

Next week, he might play and all of these will sounds like BS. But it’s almost guaranteed that at the end of the season when we’re eliminated in the playoffs, you’d look back and say that this sentiment is right.

Are there 52 Sixers fans that post here regularly? I'm sure the majority of non Sixers fans would rather us playing middling basketball, give up a pick and lose in the playoffs again.

I think once we reach the phase of the season where teams go into full tank mode, we won’t be able to compete with them, even if we sit our top players.

It feels like the most likely and worst possible outcome would be tanking and still landing outside the top 6 in the draft. That’s probably why this team would rather push for the playoffs and roll the dice instead.

This roster just isn’t built to finish with one of the 6 worst records in the league. Unless we go into a full firesale (including Nurse) which is not that easy to do with the new CBA.

And just imagine how bad next season would be.

We can't tank George and Maxey will be too good and Embiid is going to come back. This group isn't good enough to be a serious contender either so it's no mans land.

Limit all their minutes, they can lose and play. It's been proven even when they play extended minutes. No back to backs. Rest them for every little fall. Shut down both Joel and George by March. Trade Yabu, try to trade Kelly. Sit Caleb. Have g League depth.

Easy peezy. But they need to do it now. Should've done it last week. Mike is right.... You have to read the signs and it's all bad this year

There’s no way they tank. No one in the entire organization has the appetite to tank. It’s a exists only within the fan base.

Seems the team has other plans.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

My guess is Morey has a deal with Presti under the table. We flail and lose in the play-in (likely), then trade the '28 LAC first for our own pick.

Stupid? Yes.

The new “we were wrong yall” intro is genuinely good lol

The team will absolutely convince themselves that they can make a run as a play in team once we achieve the pipe dream of everyone being healthy

The question isn’t compete or tank - it’s blow it up or not. Doing a one season tank with the same roster is just delaying the inevitable. If we don’t feel like we can sneak into the playoffs & have a shot at a title run, then we need to do a full reset.

There needs to be a "I wish we could tank, but since we don't own our pick we can't" option. I don't think beating the Bullets and the Pelicans to the bottom 2 is possible, and if we land 3-6, you _know_ Adam Silver is going to make sure we lose the coin toss and get bumped out of the top 6.
