What if nobody offers a first round pick for him or a decent young player? Do the Bulls keep him indefinitely?
I think you have to keep him until the summer when a lot of trades open up and he only has two years left on his deal and the cap rises. His injury stuff is even farther in the rear view.
I'm not sure how concerned teams are about his injury history. He's healthy now and definitely doesn't have a history like other players such as Kawhi, Zion, Lonzo, etc. Relative to the league he plays an okay amount of games (besides last year, which I think he could've continued to play had he not opted for surgery, but why gut it out that season?).
As for waiting until the summer it depends on the deal. You think the Bulls should keep him if all they're offered are contracts (players without long term deals) and something minor like a few seconds? It might be a good idea to just move on. Plus, waiting could still mean nothing better is offered.
I'm with you. I think the Bulls should pull the band-aid off, but I wouldn't be surprised if Zach is retained due to them being unable to trade him. I don't agree with it, but it seems likely that's what'll happen.
Vuc on the other hand should definitely be traded, plus he should be easier to trade seeing as he's got 1 left year than LaVine, more than 20m less per year than LaVine which also makes it easier to match.
Vuc, Coby and Zach, IMO, should all be traded, Pat should be explored as should Giddey (I had high hopes...).
