Dude was a lottery pick that matched expectations and the Pacers were more than happy to immediately give him two reasonable extensions. But this Pacers team sucks, and outside of the 3PT shooting, his numbers are pretty down this year. Gotta keep rooting for them to suck, but the time to buy low is now.

Instead of potentially competing in the conference finals again, the Pacers are barely in the Play-In picture this late in the season. With Turner hitting unrestricted free agency next summer, it might be time for the team to make one of their hardest decisions in recent history.
Due to the nature of two-year contracts in the NBA, which Turner is currently on, the Pacers big man cannot sign a new extension this season. This has led some to believe the Pacers could benefit from trading Turner to a contender by the trade deadline to acquire some assets in return.
Yea probably too strong of a phrase, but you know what I mean. Those two didn't mesh, one had to go, at the time there was a narrative that Turner's first deal was an overpay and he wasn't worth it, etc. Did the Pacers themselves ever think it? Possibly not so like you said probably wasn't really a thing, but for the chatter on places like this it kinda was
