This team still needs at least half the season to see its true potential and I am not even saying this current squad is the one. Its really too early to tell. We are 8th in the entire league and ya'll acting like this is 2014 and we got Jose Calderon leading point.

Embarrassed. They were embarrassed. Let's call it what it is.

And it's not just about the Hawks game. They've had nail bitters against the Raptors, lost to the Pistons, no showed in Dallas and Utah. It's how they're losing. The only good lost this team had in all honesty is the Bulls game.

These were their starters for the Bucks game. I think we match up well.

ehhh but what were the expectations of that team? a team that had all of their picks + more and good young players. the expectations were certainly different than this year.

comparing to last year is dumb unless it's a comparison to the post OG trade, healthy knicks. which was short lived and a big "what if".

I'm not trying to connect the dots between this year's roster and last. But I don't see this team being a half game better than last year's team at this point as a victory lap.

i was agreeing with you, more responding to Fat Kat. the expectations were much higher for this team.

their size will give us problems - we should prob lean into the Precious and Kat lineup.

At what point would you be concern? The excuses were 10 games, 15, 20, now we're at 25.

you dont have any regard for chemistry and having 10 new players on a team and how that impacts a teams performance.
There is a fine line between cause and effect and "excuses".

It's worth a reasonable discussion and not a blind eye. Can't blame chemistry when you're dropping games against Charlotte and Utah. I'm not even going to talk about why the Hawks seem like prime Bulls against the Knicks. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that clinches their cheeks when we see a .500 going up against the Knicks.

come out of the tunnel (respectfully on this). The nba is filled with the best players in the world. We happen to have fans in every arena- that motivates teams to play hard against us.
It doesnt help when your team has 10 new players(in those situations). Not to mention, these players are #2's and 3's on other teams...You dont realize how much work is involved
for guys to adjust their games, learn player tendencies, coaching sets, etc and play against
the best in the world. You bring up Utah but that was clearly a bad front court match up for us- especially when you take the growth that needs to happen from this new team.

I cant believe you think this group drops games. That tells me you dont know the leaders on this team if you think that. They are not build that way. The hawks are big, long, hate the hell out of us and were the better team the last time we met. We were not ready. It's not because we gave the game away or we didnt put forth our best effort.

With all due respect Wild IMO I dont think this view is reasonable... Kat is our only true big
thats been available- Precious just played his 3rd game and we have no Mitch. These are not excuses -this is just what we are currently...

This to me- is the difference with this group over so many other Knick teams I've seen-- decade after decade...
our fans are always panicking or complaining-- on-- and during the journey but like Hart said- they're not and let them figure it out!

You posted this quote in another thread and I have no problem with what Josh said but do actually believe Thibs is coaching like he is more concerned with being the best team possible at game 82 or is he just trying his hardest to win the game right in front of him?

This romanticizing of last years team is fine. They did some great things, for ONE month. The rest of the year it was a dog fight with a makeshift roster. Randle was not a part of it. OG was not a part of it. Mitch was not a part of it. We had multiple different lineups last season. The only constant? Jalen. EVERYONE else was in and out of the lineup at some point.

Losing Shart changed the rest. Thibs inability to coach without Shart/Mitch is the problem we currently have. The roster is fine. Pretty deep and versatile. If only the HC could find a way to adapt and adjust. Thibs is the problem. Period.

Problem is Thibs isn't going anywhere. And while I don't think Thibs is thinking this, I think it'd be foolhardy to put all their hopes on Mitch. I don't get why we shouldn't be reasonably concern. We aren't talking 5-10 games in. We're talking about an obvious shift in mentality, whether they want to admit it or not.

I mean, look at the Knicks record against .500 teams last year. They were 29-4. They have already dropped 4 games against .500 teams this year.

Oh i know. Thibs is the problem that isn't going anywhere. Last year and this year are three different teams. We have more talent but, we lost a key component. Shart/Mitch. If we had them both right now we would be fine.

I am not overly concerned with the roster though. I hope the FO can pull of a trade for another Shart/Mitch type player and STILL keep Mitch. We need a rim protector at the very least. Kessler/Richards whoever. As long as they can do what Thibs needs them to do. He's obviously out of his element with an offensive monster at the 5. I'm out of patience with him. We lost several games because of him already. He's having a hard time coaching to win right now. It's a weakness.

I haven't given up just yet but, things are not looking as promising as they were. Leon has to make some moves sooner or later.

Chemistry isn't the main problem anymore. It's coaching and execution. They look lost on defense because the roster isn't built for what Thibs wants to do. Simple adjustments to the scheme and we could be winning more games. Simple adjustments to the minutes distribution and we could be winning more games. Having a true offense instead of read and react and we could be winning more games. The losses are easily explained away as the HC is lost. It's that simple. What he is doing isn't working and he refuses to try anything else.

I was willing to give him a pass until we had the full roster back though. I will try and stick to that but, my patience is worn completely thin. We have only had Payne/Deuce/Precious for two games so far. The team has a few bumps and bruises too but, we have been running short rotations and coming up short more often than we should be. A lot of that is on Thibs. He gets out coached a lot.

Im pretty much in the same boat. If we stick woth Thibs our only chance seems to be getting that elite rim protector back in the lineup. Cuz his adjustments are crap without that elite rim protector.

Trade season is upon us. The season is still young. Anyone longing for last year clearly doesn't remember last year at all. It was the wildest roller coaster ride to the 2 seed and a a game away from the ECF as I can ever remember. Thibs is going to get the full brunt of my displeasure until things turnaround. We know what we need. We know what he needs to do. He is on the hot seat and rightfully so. He's not getting fired unless we completely collapse so, until the season is over, buckle up folks! Nothing good comes easy. It took Boston a few years to get where they are. We are just getting started....again.
