Throwing this idea out there... Im sure both teams will hate it:
Bucks send
Middleton + AJ Johnson
Blazers send
Grant + Reath
Bucks shed just a little salary, but get a more reliable (healthy) F in Grant. Dame & Grant have a good relationship.
Reath gives the Bucks an extra backup big who can spread the floor.
Blazers make this swap solely for contracts. Middleton can opt out in June (expiring) or more than likely has 1.5 seasons left. The Reath/Johnson swap just gives Portland another prospect to see if they will develop.

Re: MIL | POR
I'd definitely do this for the Bucks, they have very little flexibility and this doesn't make them a contender but works towards rejuvenating their lineup and at least making them respectable enough to appease Giannis. I don't know why the Blazers would do this, though... Middleton is washed. If this is about them shedding salary, they can probably find more attractive ways to do so (Middleton isn't expiring and there's no added incentive). In short, this is lopsided in favor of the Bucks.

I guess if Portland really like AJ Johnson this could have some legs. Midds might be able to be spun of for less long term money, I doubt he is opting out of 34m.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Bumping this idea - since I didn't see any Bucks fans chime in....
I'm going to change the proposal a bit though:
Middleton + Tyler Smith
for
Grant
OR
Middleton + Tyler Smith + Beauchamp + '31 2nd pick swap (Blazers get better)
for
Grant + Reath (or Walker, or Banton)
The inclusion of Smith provides value to Blazers. If Bucks want some extra depth (Reath, Walker, or Banton) - then Beauchamp would need to be included for salary reasons.

Despite being 3 years younger (ie heading into historically more injury prone years), the last four seasons Jerami Grant has played in less games than Middleton, he's been a worse player when either are on the court and he's owed more money. I'd pass. Personally, I think the more the Denver varnish fades off of Grant people are realizing he's just not a very impactful, or for lack of a better word good, player and his contract looks hilariously bad. If Midds is completely washed at least like you said we only have him as an expiring franchise legend after this season where Grant could largely be an unmovable level deal for the remainder of his deal, a swap would just dig the knife deeper IMO. Call me a homer if you like but also with that said, I think Midds has a better chance of helping the Bucks than Grant. One double ankle surgery ago sure, but 6 months ago he was leading us in the playoffs (25 ppg on good efficiency) with Giannis and Dame out. I just don't think Grant has that gear. Giving up value for the swap of the two guys seems even sillier.

When people say a player is injury prone are they just looking at games played or are they looking at actual injuries? I ask because Grant has not gotten any real injuries in Portland but he has missed a good number of games because we have been blatantly tanking.

Exactly. Nobody who follows the Blazers would say JG has been injury prone in his time in Portland. Rather, the tank commanders have decided to sit JG, who would otherwise add a few undesired wins.

Blazers: “How you feeling today?”
Grant: “Meh.”
Blazers: “You better sit out.”

Re: MIL | POR
As bucks fan I would hope horst hangs up quickly. Middleton is not only a proven fit on the court but locker room wise as well. In order for the Bucks to move Middleton it needs to raise of the hypothetical ceiling of this years squad. Grant has value but has largely been a empty stats on bad teams guy since Denver. Also I hate how much other fans undervalue Middleton due to his injuries. Look is he a injury risk of course but that doesn't take away from his proben playoff performance. What does Grant bring to this team that would help our match up with the Celtics in the ECF. People will bring up perimeter defense but I don't really agree with that. Grant has been playing the role of a number one on lottery teams for so long now. Do people really think he will be able to just seamlessly go back to elite role player status? Finally Middleton is basically the perfect off ball fit for a Giannis Dame offense. His ability as off the catch shooter and connective passer is largely overlooked. Finally he is proven Celtics killer so yeah.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

Yeah, the good news is Grant is not injury-prone. The bad news is he's not particularly prone to playing good basketball anymore, either.

Grant at 30 isn’t a guy I’m trying to make a core piece, don’t think he’s an upgrade over Khris and has A longer contract? Pass.
