KAT picking up his 5th foul worked in our favor because Thibs was never going to go with that matchup on his own.
Exactly.
Furthermore, OG is in the convo for best wing defender in the league...and we pay him 40+ mil to handle the league's toughest defensive assignments and occasionally score...that's his role, and he's elite in this regard. He's a
monster on defense.
So.... If we're scared to let OG play defense until the final few minutes (only cuz KAT gets 5 fouls) and we're about to lose......you have to wonder what are we really doing here?

Honestly thats just a cross matchup that thibs typically doesn't do. With a non-shooter in the game a lot like Sochan KAT should have been on him and OG on Wemby a lot.
I could see that being an issue say with BOS and KP...because if KAT isn't guarding KP he would likely have to guard Holiday or White which isn't a good matchup either so he would probably have to run vs KP and that P&R which we should do more switching against and live with Tatum taking contested semi contested shots over KAT.
Similar...OG should be on Myles Turner when we play Indy and KAT should be on Siakam because turner pick and pops and Siakam really doesn't take a lot of above the break 3's.
But that isn't a cross matchup that thibs usually does.
