But facing a team on fire like that is tough. The Knicks could have actually afforded to let this one go but they didn’t. That was the most impressive part. They dig down deep for a win in a pretty meaningless December game. That speaks volumes about the character of this team. I’m very impressed.
Yes, that's very true.
Just watching how we were playing and at times the lack of effort was frustrating. But yeah you do have to commend how the Wizards were playing, because the were playing hard and badly wanted that game. I was only disappointed the game was so close the whole time.
That happens if you play b2b after playing the tough Orlando first, and the the young Wizards second. The next one won't be close.
When the GT was melting down saying what a crap team we were because we were down by 10 late in the third (even though it had been basically even most of the game), I said on the 2nd game of a B2B a veteran team will likely conserve some of their energy for the 4th quarter. That's exactly what happened.
This year the NBA has a handful of young teams with good talent but not always with the record to show for it. You can't face ORL, DET or WASH now and phone it in. You still have to make it happen. There were years where more of the teams were doormats. There may not be many elite teams, but there are fewer doormats. You can lose to anyone.
