I agree there's likely not "a dozen better offers out there", but you only need 1, not a dozen. And as I said, both Clowney and Sharpe Are young. inexpensive, and ideal for a rebuilding team like the Nets in this scenario. I personally see Minny getting too much back for Randle, and Detroit not kicking in enough to be getting their end, either. I mean, we already know what Harris is: decent counting stats, but not a first or 2nd option for a team trying to win. Sasser is a decent young combo guard still putting things together, and probably has value off the bench as a role player. But still I don't see expiring salary, a top 10 protected swap, and a top 10 (for 2 years) pick with NO young potential talent coming INTO Brooklyn as the top offer, especially when this has 2 of their promising young guys heading OUT. I could talk myself into this being a trade for Cam J if nothing else presented itself. I just don't see why Brooklyn would also throw in Sharpe and Clowney. It's not for roster spots, and if it was they'd throw in someone else, I'm sure. So why? I mean, I'd try to get them included in a Cleveland deal for Cam J (why seems like a sub-optimal fit anyway...), but I could see why Brooklyn would baulk at including them without additional value.
Does having Detroit send three seconds to bkn instead of Minnesota even it out?
I think this deal fits Detroit’s goal of reaching playoffs. I don’t see them winning enough to lower their pick into the twenty plus range. So, Bkn would probably be swapping a 25ish pick for 15ish this year and getting a pick next year in 13-18 range. That seems like good value.
Barring deals, bkn will be adding four first rounders to the roster. Which should provide a solid talent base for the team to develop, filling the role of guys like clowney and sharpe. Currently 7, 16, 25, 27. This deal should make the 7 a little better (6 unless one of the top five tanking teams win a few). Detroit would improve which might allow the swap of 27 for 15 or so. Picks in the teens are much better than twenty or lower, gives a chance at a knecht, McCain, Sengun, etc. So, I see solid value in the picks that Bkn could get.

As a Nets fan, I want no part of this deal.

I get riding out the tank. Probably best route. But, if new owners want to win some now then this seems to fill the gap while forwards develop (amen, holland).
