I don't understand how they do this to every player they land. They strip each player of there style that made them good in the first place. Spencer dinwindie and now that he's back in Dallas his career is back thriving at 31 years old. I'm sure D'Angelo felt the same way. And they tried to make him a defensive stopper? Lebron needs to understand that he can't have a super high usage rate with players that provide something they desperately need. Reaves has alot of heart and unique skill set that allows him to play lakers style basketball. His DNA is different. Some players who put up big numbers on previous teams where the #1 option on that team and playing with James and Davis doesn't make them much other than spot up shooters which won't work for them because they only know one style.
Oh please with that narrative.
DLO/Rui were traded to LA and played very well. DLO had a rough start this year but it wasn't because of the style. He just couldn't hit a shot to his normal level. And Vanderbilt was also great in his role for the Lakers when healthy. He just is never healthy now.
Silly to use Spencer as the example. A minimum waived player who was terrible for 2 years with the Nets. What value did they hurt? He went to the Lakers and was more efficient in his role. Yes he was even more efficient with the Lakers than he was with the Mavs this season. Of course Spencer was going to get less touches with Lebron/AD/DLO/Reaves on the team. Go look at how Spencer plays when Luka/Kyrie are both in the lineup. It's not good. Yes with Luka injured Spencer had more chances to have touches. That is just how it works. And even though he has some hot games here and there he is still shooting terribly for the season.
Both Schroder and Malik Monk went to LA at low/minimum salaries when their market was low and rejuvenated their careers and got bigger deals.
As for Gabe he didn't get a chance to play last year because he was injured the whole time. And if you really take a look at his career he was never very good. He had 1 hot playoff run and got overpaid because of it. Outside of that he was always been an inefficient player. He was pretty bad to start this season while missing wide open 3's. Now he is on a hot streak and his percentage got back up to his normal career averages.
