The boys rang in the New Year with a convincing victory over the 9th place Bulls on Wednesday night. Jordan Poole's play has leveled up, the rookies look like they belong, and Brian Keefe seems to be hitting the right buttons with the Bullets being 3-4 in their last 7.
But let's be clear. Winning is not a priority but a few Ws are good for morale.
Friday night the Bullets play a squad they probably didn't envision competing with for the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes. The Pelicans are 5-29. They have been, once again, RAVAGED by injury. DeJounte Murray got hurt on opening night, Zion Williamson got hurt early on, Brandon Ingram more recently, CJ MccCollum has missed time, Jose Alvarado is out, and it goes on and on throughout the roster.
Rumors are that everyone on the Pelicans roster is available for trade outside of Trey Murphy, Herb Jones, and Yves Missi.
Zion and Ingram remain out but the rest of the roster seems to be getting healthy. The Pels had a big win against the Clippers earlier this week but are coming off a loss in Miami to the HEAT.
The two rookie centers, Alex Sarr and Yves Missi, meet for the first time. Right after both have been named Rookie of the Month by the NBA in their respective conferences.
This is the first of a home and home between DC and NOLA. The rematch will be Sunday!
