But we should probably run first the no multi first team.
Assigned teams can be run as a non draft, if someone understands the exact limitations we should open a signups for this as well IMO
durantbird wrote:Assigned teams idea is relatively popular and we said it can and should be run as a non draft, which means it can be run in parallel with another draft.
Only problem and reason I didn't open it, or anyone else maybe, is that I didn't fully understand the limitations. E.g. the All-Star player cannot be All-D? The All-D player can't be an all-star? The champ can't have any personal accolades? Can I peak two All-D instead of an All-Star?

What do you think about the following outline:
Ten teams are available to be assigned in the West:
1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Los Angeles Lakers
3. Golden State Warriors
4. Phoenix Suns
5. Dallas Mavericks
6. Oklahoma City Thunder
7. Denver Nuggets
8. Utah Jazz
9. Houston Rockets
10. Portland Trail Blazers
Ten teams are available to be assigned in the East:
1. Boston Celtics
2. Miami Heat
3. Milwaukee Bucks
4. Chicago Bulls
5. Philadelphia 76ers
6. Toronto Raptors
7. Orlando Magic
8. Detroit Pistons
9. Indiana Pacers
10. Atlanta Hawks
Basically I took the top 10 teams with best win-loss records in history, but rearranged them a bit according to my personal judgement of overall depth and attractiveness, e.g. Warriors were bumped from 10th placed to 3rd. I also gave weight to their original location in the list.
I'm open to hear other suggestion of ways to rearrange the list.
Each player is randomly assigned one team from the West and one from the East, while the average location of the assigned team in the list must be between 3 to 6. E.g., you cannot have Boston+Bulls (average position: 2.5) or Spurs+Miami (average position: 1.5), but you cannot have Orlando+Utah (average position: 7.5) or Hawks+Phoenix (average position: 7). Examples for valid combos: Utah+Bucks (average position: 5.5), Suns+Bulls (average position: 4.0).
It won't be necessarily the most balanced, but I'm trying as much as possible to make it more or less balanced.
Also, MadNess' limitations are added: team needs to have 4 guys from each team, and you can use the following spots - MVP, All NBA, All Star, All D, Champ, 3 others. You can "downgrade" one of the categories to a lesser ones, and a higher category can have properties from the lower one (e.g. the All-Star can be an All Defense selectee and a Champ, but the Champ cannot be an All-Star or All-D, etc.)

Also, if we're requiring half the players come from each, how about we limit the amount of fga's you can spend on a given team? Four players could include three bench players.

Honestly I think it's kind of fun to have it randomized.
Rank the teams based on winning percentage. Everyone gets one team from the east, and whatever corresponding western team adds up to 11 in the rankings. If you get the Celtics (number one in the east) you pair them with the Blazers in the west. Simple randomization, I'd rather just have everyone with the same total ranking rather than the wiggle room LR suggested- I think that wiggle room creates unnecessary inequity.
I'd favor doing this one next. Need a short break from drafting.

Regarding accolades limit I think it's necessary. Otherwise you get GSW and then get Curry Klay KD Draymond or you get Lakers and then you can build around Magic Kobe Shaq. This means teams will be ridiculously overloaded in talent and some options are way too overpowered.
Regarding LR's idea my main problem is, as I said, the list needs rearrangement. Having GSW at spot 10th in the West while Utah is at the tops is hardly representative.

Gsw isnt one of the teams I listed as i went with alltime win%
And there is a 2mvp limit. So no shaq, kobe, magic possible.
And, imo regarding utah being a choice.
Stockton
Petrovic
KD
Malone
Lopez
Looks pretty stellar to me.
