My vague guess is that he's further away from moving Poeltl because he likes Poeltl, it looks like we can tank even with him in the lineup, the lottery odds flattened a bit and Poeltl will never cost an insane amount to extend, unless he's truly sick of losing and would take 16M or so a year as a non-tax MLE deal somewhere he can win instead of 22M or so a year from us on his next deal. If it's a low tax state, maybe he'll feel like it's worth it? He'll have made 98M in his career after next year, hard to say how much the extra 20M or so over 3 years will matter to him when we're talking about a minimum of 150M in career earnings. He did say he doesn't want to be part of tank, and that money probably buys a damn fine castle outside Vienna...
