There really aren't any traditional impact metrics in the NFL. There are stats that try to approximate plus-minus though https://www.unexpectedpoints.com/p/reintroducing-nfl-plusminus-a-superior

I noticed white players always get the optimistic outlook from people on these sites and black players is always the pessimistic outlook.
It’s so frustrating but I’ve been noticed it.

The same board that just voted 1986 Hakeem as better than Bird?

Not a perfect analogy (most obviously due to the fact that Brady is the longevity outlier himself) but the discourse over whether it's better to lose earlier in the playoffs than in the Finals reminded me of it. Also conference opponent strength vs Finals opponent strength. Mahomes will have to do a lot to make the debate relevant, but it has the potential to join Messi/CR7, MJ/LeBron in the pantheon of annoying GOAT debates. Maybe worse than MJ/LeBron due to how much of a team sport it is lol

Mahomes fans acting like Mahomes goodness is synonymous with how good the Chiefs are so they could pretend every win was Mahomes thoroughly outplaying the opposing QB and he was way better than everyone else in relative down-years was pretty short-sighted.

I've seen far more of the opposite this season tbh.
