just watched the game. that was fun tbh. I am beyond concerned for April/May, tho.
We are playing KAT and Brunson around 40 minutes in mid January with both having multiple injuries. thats just crazy and the weels will fall off unfortunately.

as for the Pistons..I was dead wrong earlier in the season when I thought they acquired the wrong vets, but the did everything right it seems. And holy hell is Cade for real.

Exactly, they overreact to the post/paint regardless of who the player is, you do not leave a shooter to double on Tobias in the post. The Tom glazers don't believe scheme matters but he broke everything down.

Playing defense with a philosophy from 2005 instead of 2025.

I don't understand Tom at all.

Actually, Brunson gets the ball to KAT plenty and the run a good pick and roll.
i must be watching a different game. does anyone have the stats on how many assisted baskets Kat has made from a brunson pass? feels like he always misses him when he's open for 3 and when he rolls it's more just to collapse the defense for brunson to do his thing or pass to someone else for 3.

the bottom line is brunson's vision and playmaking is mediocre at best. he has gotten better but to me is still essentially an undersized scoring guard that is capable of organizing the team well enough but isn't a plus advantage creator (other than for himself to score)

edit I just checked and KAT has been assisted 69 times by brunson, 2nd most is hart with 57. i think that is telling since hart is rarely even handling the ball. Cam has 27 in probably a tenth of the minutes.

Sorry if Brunson isn't John Stockton. Maybe a better coach could better utilize the strengths of the team.

4th - 114.4 / 117.2 (25th)

The offense crashes just as hard in the 4th as the defense does.

You're arguing against flat earthers, homie.

OG and Zion are very close in salary. Zion only makes 67k more

KAT and Zion in the front court would be pretty cool

Thibs is who he is, I don't think the FO has the testicular fortitude to try and find a coach who is better.

I had this argument with my brother.

Me: "Thibs overreacts to protecting the paint"
Him: "Something something Thibs"
Me: "Who is elite paint scorer on the Pistons? Cade will get in there, granted. Duren? Tobias? Who cares. Meanwhile Beasley, THJr, whoever are casually knocking down 3's"

Maybe it's coaching.

Just like a bunch of posters feel Bridges and OG are overrated on defense.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but having them with one foot in the paint 75% of the game might just affect their ability as defenders.

yea i mean i'm not expecting him to be john stockton. i'm just pointing out his style of play as the #1 option on the team probably isn't going to work when you consider on the other end he is a liability. a better coach could potentially utilize him and this roster better - especially since i think the personnel lacks playmaking in general and is way too reliant on brunson to try to do that.

i think brunson could work as the #1 guy if he was surrounded with the right players - none of which can be below average defenders and ideally one wing/guard would be a plus ball handing playmaker.

you look at the hawks and i'm not saying they are better than us or their ceiling is higher, but they surrounded trae with long athletic wings and bigs that can all defend. a roster built like that could maybe have a better chance to win it all with brunson as the #1.

Dood in the video on the tweet is absolutely cookin
What’s crazy is 95% of fans see what’s wrong with the defensive schemes of Thibs, with his stubbornness, pig headed beliefs and ZERO changes. The dood is not some defensive guru, he just plays his best players into the ground, and can’t devise an offensive or defensive scheme to save his life. He is reliant so much on the talent of his players.

The dood is designing defense the way he schemed for the Celtics against the lakers in the finals back in 08 or whatever year it was. This is absolute madness.

Unless the entire Knick organization is in on some massive scheme, to unleash a completely new defense come playoff time, and continue drop coverage all season long UNTIL the playoffs, I have NO idea how we are going to even make it out the first round.

Return to New York Knicks
