Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 9
All that said, Barnes takes 16.9% of his shots from 10-16 feet and league average is 8.7%.
I think it's safe to conclude that, especially among volume scorers, he's up there by volume in that zone.

Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 9
Seeing some nice refinement finally. Teams are pretty much going to let him take these contested right now but I’m expecting by next season they’ll deny these shots more for him and hoping that leads to some free throws or counter moves he works on.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Nice to have my idea of making him live in the MR being vindicated, thanks for the numbers man!

Props TZ!

Can we stop overrating the progress hes made on offense? Hes made none and is an extremely limited scorer. Hes not that guy as much as i want him to be

I don’t think anybody is saying he’s that guy. I do think we need to be realistic that he’s likely not even a secondary guy either

It's your own fault thinking we was "that guy".
Most agree he is a 3rd scoring option guy who can get you 20+ on any given night along with filling the stat sheet elsewhere.
Problem is we have no #1 scorer so him and RJ get the most shots

He's a Lamar Odom or Andre Iguodala type player.

I was thinking the same thing recently about Scottie while watching Porzingis. Guys who become young All-stars, get a ton or hype but never ascend to a franchise-carrying talent. Then the shine wears off, and they actually become underrrated, and contribute elsewhere on a contender as a complimentary piece. I could definitely see Scottie following this trajectory.

Knew we were in for a crap game when he didn’t bend his knees on his first 3 possessions. Them stiff hips and high legs will never make him a competent scorer at a high level.

looks to be trending that way and will likely be difficult to pay a guy like that the max on a championship team.

It wouldn't if he actually starts playing defense like people been expecting or project. Jalen Williams (OKC) for example has had issues on offense this season but he is a tier 1 wing defender now so the rookie max will be fine. Right now, Scottie is not close to all nba level defense and his offense is hit or miss.

Sure, if he's an All-NBA level defender, his offensive flaws become less of an issue. I've been saying he should shift his focus there to maximize his potential.
Reality is his advanced stats have been mediocre to bad in his career, so his impact on winning is really still tbd imo.

Do we change the thread title when he doesn’t make the All-Star team this year?

honestly based on his scouting report I have been more disappointed in his defense than offense. He was decent for a stretch last year but he is a bad poa defender on guards, cant fight over screens and he doesn't show the IQ of ATG help defenders yet. He also doesn't have manic motor like Giannis. Even Suggs turned into an elite defender.

He is going to be paid near-max, how is it others fault to think a near-max player wasn't "that guy".
Barrett is being paid like a 3rd scoring option.

Re: Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 9
Theres no way in hell Scottie is an all star this year.
LaMelo/Dame/Trae
Spida/Brunson/Cade
Tatum/Brown
Giannis/Paolo
KAT/Mobley
That's the team and u still got guys who will be snubs and potential injury replacements in Allen, Siakam, Wagner, Garland, Jalen Johnson
