The most frustrating thing is looking at this roster and saying ,” how the hell are we even approaching cap limit ?” Like how do the Celtics, Lakers, Clippers , Knicks afford those rosters and we’re looking at Paolo and Franz and saying crap how do we add to this.

Wendell and Caldwell-Pope signings mostly were just mediocre moves that ate up all wiggle room for creativity. That plus building around 3 huge contracts in current NBA is hard.

It's doable though they just gotta be smart. For instance when Paolo's extension kicks in I have them around 190 mil for 8 players (if they decline Jett's option) in 26/27. 1st apron is at 215 mil then. That's assuming they don't make any picks the next two years.

So 25 million for 7 spots. To me that seems really really rough without rookie contracts on board. That's why I personally still value picks.

BINGO.. they'll start to use 2nd round picks for roster fodder as well. The out right now is possibly moving Cole + WCJ in the summer with a pick for something bigger. Here's a serviceable big, a 1st, and an expiring who won't hurt you long term. The question is who would be available and if they'd even value what we have to give.

I'll be shocked if they do anything during the deadline the more I crunch numbers and look at the next 2 years salary/tax. The next move almost has to be the all in move unless Ownership is willing to pay tax dollars.

Yeah if they can move Wendell for shorter term money or a good player by attaching a pick it could help a lot.

You can also always try to trade for guys on affordable contracts. You can find rotation players in that 5-10 million range in free agency occasionally.

But yeah I agree now that I look more at the numbers. I mean they could surprise us and make a swing and go into the tax or become an apron team next year, not impossible at all. My gut just says it is unlikely.

Yeah.. we got a lot of contracts that are actually perfect for trading. I think that was the endgoal when they extended guys like Gary WCJ Cole etc

I fully expect the 2nds to already have been traded so I don't even look at the 2nd round. But if we keep the 1sts some people I personally like are Carter Bryant, would be someone we stash in the g league most likely but I like his potential. Noa Essengue, another big who has potential would see him stashed as well. I like Fears but hes lottery bound and I like probably Jakucionis the most and would try and trade up to get him but I doubt we w/could.

I found our center of the future 6'10" Joan Beringer, 18 years old! Great Athlete and high motor. Started playing basketball in 2021. :o

Have a feeling he is gonna fly up boards. Not a great 3point shooting percentage but watching him you know that part will evolve. Honestly has a great stroke.

His frame he is not even close to the muscle he can add.

I believe so as well.... cuz there aren't many bigs in the current projection. so we'll see where he lands compared to our pics. He really does remind me of young wendell.... mix of power and finesse.

Crazy this is Wendell’s 8th year in the league and still only 25

I think Jakucionis is locked in top 5 at this point.

Way I see it is the top 5 are likely going to be
Flagg
Harper
Jakucionis
Bailey
Edgecombe

Last 3 could be taken in any order, I'm sure most would have all more valuable than last years #1.

Edgecombe is legit and they let them play in the big 12. Very physical style of ball.

Cooper at #1

The rest of the top picks might be decided only after the NCAAT

Maybe, but Harper and Bailey are extremely likely top 5 locks and Rutgers may not even make the tourney. Ace Bailey just dropped 37 points on 20 shots tonight as well.

Exactly.. Rutgers might not make it in the tournet so they stay at top 5 untile the tourney happens and guusy in the 5-8 range might leapfrog and push them out.

Thats the problem with being " out of sight out of mind" your competition has a chance to shine while you stay in the sidelines.

Assuming we don’t deal one away at the deadline, both our pick, Denver’s pick, and Wendell could get us into the back end of the lottery if there’s an athletic big we want to grab.

I would trade down for multiple picks before I traded up in most drafts for where we are likely to pick, but especially this one. After the top several guys I do have a few in the next tier, but then after that I really think it's a huge allotment of guys with similar value depending on what you need. Love the depth of potential role players and starters all the way down to the early 40s.

BTW, Broome had 26-16 with 3 blocks and 11 offensive boards yesterday. Think he has something like the 4th highest BPM in a college basketball season now. Yes he is older so it is a bit easier for him, but still if I'm taking one player where we are likely to be picking I will gladly take him if he is there.
