filler and 3 1st round picks from the same draft with maybe 1 projected to be lottery is a horrible deal. Kings are better off waiting and going to the offseason to make a trade where more teams will have flexibility

Hence the push for a trade:

Read on Twitter

But there's a lot of speculation about. If Fox told Kings he would not re-sign/don't expect him past 2026, and wants Spurs, seems like a clearer path.

But there's tweets about how Fox will consider Kings and Spurs. Likely because both can give him most money. Maybe we are just being used as leverage here, but I don't want us bent over the barrell. Especially if other stars want to join us. Especially if Fox will consider us in FA... Lots to weigh...

Unlike the Butler situation, Kings hold all the leverage here. They're only 2-games back of the 6-seed in the West, and Fox isn't a free agent until 2026. All this just illustrates that they have zero urgency to get a deal done before the deadline unless the Spurs (or someone else) offers them an absolute king's (hehe) ransom that they couldn't refuse. Which is ultimately why I don't see a trade happening until the offseason at the very earliest. Spurs fans can dream about getting him cheap (Vassell and picks ain't it), but you're probably gonna have to keep dreaming then.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is Klutch just being cautious so as not to make it look like they're demanding to go only go to 1 team publicly like Lillard but have made it known privately that they won't extend anywhere but SA

SA just makes too much sense. Plus his wife is from here and I think her parents still live here

Considering that he's replicated it again this year with Sengun in the line-up with the Rockets winning, we can assume has it in him. Once again he's only 22yo, so he has plenty of time to develop his consistency.
davidv2001 wrote:As for Butler, the Rockets have three players in their starting lineup that shoot a high volume of threes. Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. Butler does not take many threes and prefers to live in the mid range area. The Rockets cannot start Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and Jimmy Butler together as it would kill floor spacing, so Butler is not a good fit in Houston.

Finally, I’m aware Cam Johnson is a good fit anywhere due to his contract relative to his production, but the Rockets’ biggest weakness other than playoff experience is perimeter shooting. They need a sniper like him more than anything.

Jimmy has the ability to up his volume from deep, he's proven it in the playoffs. He doesn't shoot many in the RS because his team is full of shooters already. The most important thing your missing with his addition is that he would give the Rockets a go-to scorer down the stretch. Someone who is capable of generating a great shot and would fit in with Ime's coaching. This is Fox thread, so I don't want to derail it any further as I actually don't think the Rockets should make any big moves anyways and to let the season play out.

The more I think about the return for Sacramento, I don't think they'd want to bring back Vassell. They already have Malik on a great contract and an emerging Ellis ready to take on a bigger role.

I do wonder what the appeal would be for a Castle + Barnes + Sochan and picks package.
- Is it too much for the Spurs?
- Too less for Sacramento?

I wonder what that one preferred destination is? My guesses are the Rockets and Spurs in the West and the Heat and Magic in the East. On the Rockets Fox can be the number 1 offensive option on a young and improving defensive home-court playoff team. On the Spurs he can form a formidable duo with Wemby. On the Heat he can be looped in some sort of Butler deal and be reunited with Bam and on the Magic he can help form an up-and-coming trio with Franz and Paolo. Interested to see how this plays out.

Why do the Spurs want Fox? He is a score first PG that doesn't score very well. Definitely not the guy you want around Wemby. I would rather inquire about Sabonis. Him and Wemby would be insane.

LMAO at fox thinking he is the missing piece for the spurs. That is still no we're nearly a championship caliber team. Fox is not a needle mover like that.

I don't think it's Fox or bust for us.

So we won't overpay.

But the mutual interest is interesting. It's not the first time we've heard it, either. So, we'll see...

Like my lone hesitation would be tying Klutch to *anything* Spurs related... This is the Murray playbook 2.0. At least in either case it gives the existing team a chance to recoup assets. But hopefully the relationship is good to where there's no weird interference. Done with that ****. Clear boundaries.

This honestly just makes the Haliburton trade more baffling. Kings most likely trading Fox because he won't commit to a contract, and they don't want to loose him for nothing. Haliburton is not only better, but he's younger, and locked up longer than Fox.

Great fit for the Raptors and likely have the assets to get it done.

Fox's value at the time was clearly negative. It wasn't an "either/or" kind of situation. The Kings would have had to attach assets to move him for an expiring and getting Sabonis for him wasn't even remotely realistic.

So it's not "if they'd traded Fox then they'd have Haliburton/Sabonis now" more like "if they'd traded Fox they'd have Haliburton/nothing now"

I really like Fox, so im torn on whether he would be a good fit.

But the Spurs don't like dealing with Clutch ( who does)

I don't even know who to give up. Collins is on an expiring and the Kings need bigs? Maybe Keldon ?

I know it won’t likely happen this way but if I’m the Spurs I’m fine waiting this out and trying to acquire Fox as a free agent. I’m not wanting to have to give up a bunch of assets for the rights to overpay Fox on his next deal. If Fox really wants to be in SA I’d take my chances on outright signing him. If I miss out I don’t think it would be the end of the world.

Spurs would be wise staying out of this.

A relatively inefficient scorer who's used to a high-usage and who's played only in 1 playoff series in 8 years (not all his fault but not an aberration either) - this is not the co-star to chase for Wemby.

Pass.

Raptors are years away from contention, so it's doubtful that Fox wants to be traded there.
