The issue with that is that, if Miami doesn't make the playoffs, they have to send OKC an unprotected pick in 2026 and an unprotected 1st to Charlotte (?) in 2028. At least that's what I remember reading.
Miami's 2025 pick conveys to OKC if its not in the lottery. If it is in the lottery, then Miami's 2026 FRP goes to OKC. That's great for them. Personally, from the lens of benefit for the Miami Heat, I think a lotto pick in 2025 can net a great player a year earlier to match with current core (in seemingly a better draft?). And I fully expect Miami to be better next season than this season. Is what it is.
The CHA potential conveyance is solely based on if Miami is in the playoffs or not in 2027. Not impacted by the prior OKC conveyance.
Miami adding an additional 2027 pick unlocks max flexibility with being able to trade a larger allotment of future picks, rather than being constrained by a hold with the CHA conveyance (stepien rule)
