If Miami can just get a 2027 FRP in the Jimmy trade, then I can fully embrace close losses where Miami is experimenting and developing. Prioritizing schematic and youth development is def the most important thing the Heat can be doing right now IMO.

And I'd also start diving further into the 2025 draft class.

The issue with that is that, if Miami doesn't make the playoffs, they have to send OKC an unprotected pick in 2026 and an unprotected 1st to Charlotte (?) in 2028. At least that's what I remember reading.

Miami's 2025 pick conveys to OKC if its not in the lottery. If it is in the lottery, then Miami's 2026 FRP goes to OKC. That's great for them. Personally, from the lens of benefit for the Miami Heat, I think a lotto pick in 2025 can net a great player a year earlier to match with current core (in seemingly a better draft?). And I fully expect Miami to be better next season than this season. Is what it is.

The CHA potential conveyance is solely based on if Miami is in the playoffs or not in 2027. Not impacted by the prior OKC conveyance.

I missed a good majority of the game last night so got to watching the replay and could not believe after the Orlando performance that grouping got zero run. Wow. Also the Highsmith with the starting unit just ain't working. Better off just trying Burks at this point to get another real shooter in with that grouping.

Was def Spo wanting to prioritize having a POA defender on Mitchell. Mitchell still cooked tho. We just are real low on perimeter defenders on the roster rn.

Funnily enough, Highsmith was the primary source of points for Miami's early 3Q run to cut into the lead at start of 2nd half.

I could be wrong but because of the Stepien Rule a team cannot trade its first round pick in consecutive years. So if we are in the lottery this year, that makes the 2026 pick completely unprotected going to OKC. Then that means we cant trade the 2027 pick, being in the playoffs or lottery is immaterial. That means CHA automatically gets an unprotected pick in 2028 from us.

You're right, the loophole is it can be any first round pick. That totally helps us and means we get another pick in 2027 in the butler trade. Then as long as we make the playoffs it conveys to CHA.
