But Lonnie's defense is not really that great.
Sam Hauser is part of the long term plans and should not be traded.
But right now Sam and PP with the 2nd unit is just lacking that ability to get to the rim or finish strong on fast breaks.
Al and PP will get the 6th and 7th spot in the playoff rotation.
We just need an 8th man who's an upgrade over Hauser.
Sam can be the 9th man and focus more on being a specialist.
We're not trading for anyone who would leapfrog over Hauser in the rotation.
Hauser was our 7th/8th man when we just won the title. Then we gave him a sizable long term extension. He's locked into a top 8 rotation spot.
If we signed Walker, he'd be an end of bench guy..would certainly not leap frog over Hauser in the rotation. And if he's not gonna play that much, he would likely stay in Europe instead of signing here.
Plus, if he's not getting consistent mins, a player like Walker isn't very valuable since he's a streaky shooter who needs rhythm and needs consistent mins to be in rhythm. If he's getting inconsistent mins, he'll come in off the bench and sometimes he'll be hot but he'll often be cold and shoot us out of games, bringing nothing else to the table to compensate.
