That's where my idea of fit comes from anyhow.
I know the Kings won't do it but they should consider moving Monk to OKC once the Fox stuff sorts itself out. With Fox gone SAC is probably going to be forced into a rebuild at some point. Move Fox and then move Monk to OKC to fill in picks around the years you didn't get picks in the Fox trade. Try to get into a position where you have 10 1sts over the next 5-6 years. Monk to OKC solves their ball handling + bench creation issues at a fair cost going forward. SAC gets Wiggins + Kenrich + 2 solid 1sts (filling in the gap years based on picks gotten in the Fox trade) + 2nds. Monk should have a better market than Demar based on age, contract and fit.
Without Fox this SAC team is going to fall off and falling off means not even being a play-in team. They should start the rebuild now. See what the market for Sabonis or Demar is as well. I know this isn't appealing to SAC fans but I can easily see world in which they spin their wheels over the next 2-3 years and are eventually forced into a rebuild as Demar ages out. When your star forces his way out it's really tough to hold the fort and probably makes a rebuild inevitable imo.
I just want to point out that if Fox is gone, Monk becomes our starting PG. In the last month since Doug Christie took over coaching Monk is averaging fantastic numbers 22.5pts 7.8Asts 3.6Rbs on great efficiency 46% FG and 89% FT. I don't see the kings trading him after moving fox. I don't see the kings moving toward a rebuild at all honestly.
We have had a bad team for such a long time I just can't imagine heading toward a rebuild again, and I don't think Vivek wants to rebuild in that situation either. Our front court has been pretty bad the last couple years if the kings use the fox trade to shore up those weaknesses I think we could be a good team, especially with how monk has performed as a starter.
Getting front court help will change our roster significantly. If we can add a good starter level PF that moves Keegan back to SF and suddenly the kings no longer have a length problem in fact we would have good size at SF and SG and PG.
I would be very excited about a depth chart that looks like this.
Monk/Carter
Derozan/Ellis
Keegan/Ellis
Starting PF/Keegan
Sabonis/Lyles
I agree that I don't think they will rebuild but I think they should. The above team still looks like a play-in team to me. Maybe the Kings can hold the fort with Monk in place of Fox but what type of fort are they holding? Chasing 44 win seasons for the next 2-3 years? It really feels like this era has run it's course and I don't see much upside to the team. I understand not wanting to rebuild after many years of futility but I believe if SAC doesn't rebuild now they will be forced to eventually.
