- 2025 first will likely not convert and become two second rounders.
- 2027 spurs pick will likely not be very good with Wemby, Fox and young supporting cast almost certainly being a playoff roster
- that leaves the 2031 Minnesota pick which is more of a wild card because it's so far into the future.
- and then a bunch of second rounders

Great deal for the spurs, risky for Sacramento imo.

Fox wanted the super max. He was about to be even worse value. LaVine is well worth his contract if he can sustain his level of play I mean can is probably the wrong word probably if he will sustain his level is better. He is super talented probably an even better scorer than Fox when he is on.

Problem is those 2023-2024 numbers were god awful.

Decent trade but Fox is kind of overrated. Spurs got him for basically nothing and still have a lot of trade assets left,so that's where they benefit.

damn I wanted Fox on the Magic

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Pretty good deal
Great for Spurs, get a shot at an AS PG very cheaply
Bulls do what they needed to do-more moves coming (White to Orl, Vuc to GS, Flagg to Chi!)
Sac should have gotten their swap back, but Lavine will get buckets there

Monte picked a vet in LaVine who is a Vivek favorite as a means to save his job. Zach puts up numbers, he can sell that to casuals. Zach is a Vivek fav so he can sell that to ownership. He got a bunch of picks (large quantity, so-so quality).

This reeks of a trying to save his *** move by Monte.

I really like Monk, DDR and Lavine individually but man I doubt they will but I wish they'd deal DDR before the deadline for a lower usage better defensive wing. That's a lot of hungry offensive mouths to feed, even if Monk pivots to more of a playmaking type role.

Hmmm wonder if the Kings will use a trade exception or two?

Vecenie is dumb, Malik has always been a willing facilitator but not a PG at all.

I used to value Vecenie but after his recent Lamelo tweet its obvious he is a hack.

Vassell is a chucker who can't playmake, CP3 is uber slow version of the real CP3 and the other guards are bench a part of the worst bench in NBA. They need Fox badly to playmake and create spacing for Wemby. To just score so Wemby can rest 5 minutes.

All the good Spurs roleplayers are big wings, small ball forwards like Barnes, Keldon Johnson and Sochan. They need top 40 player badly, they had too many bad guards and I sadly have seeing many games because of Wemby.

- still have two R1 picks in this years draft

Look out Spurs are comin' for y'all -- yeah that means you OKC, Houston, and LAL.

Will be neat to see how good the Spurs can be this year, and just the things they're going to be able to do offensively. Maybe Fox's defense can come back a bit.

Spurs just need one more dynamic player at hybrid forward (not necessarily a Kawhi replacement, but someone with SF/PF-size), and then they're good to go basically for main guys around Wemby.. but not yet, and still need some better, consistent shooters to emerge. Castle being an all-star-level player will be important.. even if its like an Iguodala type who can step up as needed.

Yeah I'm thrilled with what we had to give up. Sad to see Tre go and Collins was a pro about his waning minutes, great teammates, but if that's all we've parted with, well and prospect Sidy who wanted more PT and hopefully he'll get it in SAC, then it's a huge chemistry/roster win. Also, we retained the best picks.

I think we can make do at the SF spot for this season. It's surely a long term need to fill but we can wait until the offseason to address it. The most pressing need right now is a quality back up big. Someone who sets screens, rolls, rebounds, can make a read and a DHO. Like a Valanciunas, for instance, who actually makes less than Collins somehow. Just so we can give Wemby a comfortable breather and it keeps our floor higher in the Wemby resting minutes.

I'm kind of numb from the excitement of the last 36 hours but I also have this deep appreciation for where we are now, just for all that it's taken to get here, and where we could be as a result of today's trade. ONWARDS!

Spurs did great. They managed to pawn off the perceived value to the Bulls to pick up. Monte decided he’d rather give Vivek what he wanted vs make the best deal. The shinny object I talked about is Zach…in Vivek’s eyes. Well played for SA.

I was just saying to someone on our board how I think each team in this deal left satisfied based on their core needs: SAC wanted a win now known experienced player, some picks, cap relief - check; CHI wanted to get off LaVine's contract and got their pick back which given their rebuild is of higher value to them than us (ie/ it would likely not have converted to us given the protections anyway. Might as well use it to benefit us); we got Fox while retaining our best assets (perhaps for another deal yet to come).

Now whether fans agree that those ought to be the team directions and therefore the targets in a trade is another matter. But based on stated needs, each team left with something they can be happy with.

Big yikes for the kings. Spurs made out like bandits, wemby about to feast. Spurs just need to trade KJ for a quality big.

Is it only me that doesn't see a 3 picks difference between Fox and Lavine?

On overall value Monte did alright. It’s the distribution of value that’s the issue for Sac.
