Look out Spurs are comin' for y'all -- yeah that means you OKC, Houston, and LAL.
Will be neat to see how good the Spurs can be this year, and just the things they're going to be able to do offensively. Maybe Fox's defense can come back a bit.
Spurs just need one more dynamic player at hybrid forward (not necessarily a Kawhi replacement, but someone with SF/PF-size), and then they're good to go basically for main guys around Wemby.. but not yet, and still need some better, consistent shooters to emerge. Castle being an all-star-level player will be important.. even if its like an Iguodala type who can step up as needed.
Yeah I'm thrilled with what we had to give up. Sad to see Tre go and Collins was a pro about his waning minutes, great teammates, but if that's all we've parted with, well and prospect Sidy who wanted more PT and hopefully he'll get it in SAC, then it's a huge chemistry/roster win. Also, we retained the best picks.
I think we can make do at the SF spot for this season. It's surely a long term need to fill but we can wait until the offseason to address it. The most pressing need right now is a quality back up big. Someone who sets screens, rolls, rebounds, can make a read and a DHO. Like a Valanciunas, for instance, who actually makes less than Collins somehow. Just so we can give Wemby a comfortable breather and it keeps our floor higher in the Wemby resting minutes.
I'm kind of numb from the excitement of the last 36 hours but I also have this deep appreciation for where we are now, just for all that it's taken to get here, and where we could be as a result of today's trade. ONWARDS!
