Weird but maybe they were worried about having to pay him. Also, Max Christe kinda fulfills the same 3&D role.

The Mavs probably didn't want to pay Grimes in the summer. Martin will be under contract for 3 more years on a pretty cheap deal. Still don't like it for them. Smart deal by the Sixers IMO.
