We gave up 2 guys that were expiring and not part of our future for a legit all star esp in the east.. who happens to be 27. Ya, he might be a bit injury prone but that's something we've seen our medical staff fix before, dont think we've had a scorer like him in some time, he's pretty un-guardable.

The way i see it, basically accelerated our rebuild by getting a proven star and still have the ability to get a top 5 pick this draft while not losing our expiring contracts for nothing, that's pretty good if you ask me.

The return for Siakam is looking nicer as others have pointed out. The pacers pick next season hurts a bit but i think we still got the better deal.

agreed

NEED TO DRAFT TOP-5 THOUGH.

i better not see this team make a play-in run

if we stay the course and get a top-5 we're back to running the atlantic in 2 years

Gave up Indys pick which will be likely lotto with no protections.
Have to now re-sign Ingram.

This team is "tanking"

How is Indy's pick "likely" in the lottery?

I think we're going to offer him a 2+1 that is non-guaranteed in the final 2 years with games played stipulations

If Raptors can still finish bottom 6th then I would consider it a win...we need that cheap lotto talent....too many highly paid players on this team so it needs to balance out.

Still, his awkward fit next to Pelicans star Zion Williamson — the two stars played just 154 games together in 5 ½ seasons — his reluctance to modernize his offensive approach and his ongoing issues with durability made it difficult for New Orleans to commit to another long-term contract with Ingram.

Some of those same concerns led other teams to pass on their opportunity to seriously pursue Ingram in the trade market.

Enter Masai! lol

His depressed value normally means you should be able to get him at a discount, but Raps are known for negotiating against themselves so.. it'll be 40mil+/year, book it.

https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2024/4/30/24145227/brandon-ingram-trade-rumors-new-orleans-pelicans-nba-offseason

I dunno.

That 97th percentile in terms of most shots after 3-6 dribbles is gonna annoy the hell out of me. I wonder if we think he can just stop doing that if we scheme the offense right. I can't imagine Darko is going to put up with that ****.

Basically when you look at his shooting stats, he made an all-star team and maybe it went to his head because he then went from shooting 25% of his shots from 10 feet to 3 up to like 40-48%. That's pretty damn annoying. He did start shooting more 3s and cut that number back to about 39% this year, which is maybe a good sign or just small sample size since he got hurt after 18 games.

Also he never fit with Zion, and while Barnes and Zion are different, we're still talking about PFs who can't really shoot as their co-star.

https://craftednba.com/players/comparison?player1=brandon-ingram&player2=rj-barrett

He really is RJ with some mild differences:
-Better shooter
-Injured more
-Gets to the line much less, but actually hits his FTs when he does
-Way less deflections, but more defensive rebounds
-Longer, but skinnier
Where's the D?

It's a great trade

Except the Kawhi trade was made with a multiple time 50 win team, not a multiple time 20 win team. It's kinda weird that people see that he didn't give up anything of value, and think that, that was him making a great trade, and not the inverse.

That's because some of us thinks Ingram is good when healthy, his offensive game adds to what we are missing at a position of need.

We basically have no room to pay Davion and Chris so I think they are both pretty much sure things to be traded now.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

The chances either of those picks become a player as good as Ingram are miniscule. Contract aside, this is a good trade. Talent upgrade, gives us another self-creator and it won't screw up our tank.

We added a borderline All Star averaging 22 pts a game...for 1 1st and cap filler.

We traded away a borderline All Star averaging 22 pts a game for 3 1sts and cap filler.

That's a tidy piece of work
Please just take a look at his games played over the past years, and how badly he chokes during crunch time.

We have Barnes, Ingram, RJ, Quickley, Barrett, Dick who can all be used during crunch time lol. We’re not going have to rely on one guy.

why wouldn't he....can rehab as long as he likes this season, and he will get paid big.

For the most part big name players will re-sign with the Raptors, you just have to pay them well.

Paying big money for a part timer worries me ....Ingram has not put together a healthy season in years....Talented player but its a risk at the price tag.

why is the Indy pick gonna be likely lotto? I don't see them falling off a cliff, i think they'll be a top team in the East next year. That pick will be in the 20s. As long as we get Ingram on a decent deal, see what we can get for RJ, I think this was a great move by masai.

right between the eyes wrote:This place is becoming so toxic of late. Some of you are never happy whatever Masai does. Ingram is a steal for what we gave up. Most on this board wanted Bruce and Kelly to be traded. He did that. Let's see how things go with him next to Scottie. We have a lot of young talent and depth when healthy. Adding a guy like Ingram doesn't hurt.

Have you heard of the concept of value in excess of contract?

At today's 36M, assuming Ingram is healthy for 65+ games a season, this is absolutely a steal.

But Ingram is about to make well over 40M, and liable to be injured and miss games. He will not be much value in excess of his NEXT contract. This is at best neutral value deal.

What I'm complaining about is the timing of this deal - just like the Poeltl trade, it is bad timing. We should be focusing on 2025 FRP positioning and developing young players (Walters/Mogbo/Dick) this season and the next season - instead we going to give mins to vets for play-in next season and possibly this season.

We're three or four weeks removed from people calling Olynyk washed and Brown trash, yet this board is all up in arms for trading them and what likely amounts to a late teens/early 20s pick for an all-star-level talent that instantly becomes our best scorer and is still in his prime. If we traded Siakam for Ingram, Ochai and a 1st (JKW) last season (and kind of Shead + Mitchell as well), it would have been universally considered an excellent deal.

This team looks pretty stacked now. Everyone slides down a peg in the pecking order to a role where it is likely more suitable while we have a bunch of promising young players on cheap contracts. Interested to see if any other moves are made. Maybe Boucher and/or Mitchell will be on the move to essentially recoup the extra 2nd thrown into this deal.

People were upset we traded for Kawhi because he was often injured too.

back season. We need to draft very well this season and the youth needs to keep growing but the depth looks good. Who else in the East has this many players at every position with tons of potential?
I'd also be interested in buying into the second round to replenish the 2nd round pick we gave up
