And?
That isn't that high.
The next highest paid player after our starting 5 is going to be Cooper Flag.

I have questions about “asset accumulation”. Seemingly there was very little market for Ingram because of his salary expectations. So we’re going to pay this guy that no one really wanted and all of a sudden he’s going to be an “asset”?
They're likely thinking they are buying low and that the fit in our system will unlock something like it seems to have done with RJ.
What’s buy low though? We have to pay him this offseason and by all accounts he was looking for big money which is why NOP had trouble trading him. We aren’t exactly a team known for getting players on discount contracts.

So the plan is to sit him out the majority of games, not get a good look at him with the rest of the team and then re-sign him for big money without really knowing how he fits on the team? This is an awful plan.
How many games does it require to get a good look?

With this new cap structure there will be a lot of turnover throughout the league. Just gotta put ourselves in a position to succeed.
We are not accumulating "assets" if the "assets" are all slightly overpaid or well overpaid if they turn out injury prone.
Something around 30-35M is fine. 40M and over is Lavine territory

30-35 would be a big paycut based on what Ingram is currently getting. If he’s not even looking for raise (relative to the cap) he’s going to get close to $40m.

So, they probably do view him as a potential foundational piece. My guess on how a contract looks is something in the low 40's and possibly mid 40's if it's on shorter deal.

All the games in March + April

Buying low on the talent, I am not thinking we get him on a bargain deal. I am expecting low 40's on a longer deal and mid possibly even high 40's on a shorter one.

It’ll probably be. 1+1 around 37M. My guess
